Ok, trying to aknowledge the skip's cool nickname in the main description is usually a no. Other than that, I jsut jumped direct into that interview. I think you did that because you (the Author) wanted it to look bigger of what it really is.
The skip's "cool nickname" is in fact the names of the two creatures, and there really isn't a policy against doing so.
Could you elaborate on "wanted it to look bigger of what it really is"?
Ok, I read it properly now, and it's actually a funny idea, but I have a slight issue with the fact human eye cannot perceive. You can simply mention we record them with a special slow motion camera. I think I'll change it to no vote.
I rather like it. It's cute.
However, I don't think you properly understand what a "decibel" is.
A sound of 40 decibels is 10 times louder than a sound of 30 decibels, and 100 times louder than a sound of 20 decibels.
a crude cello that autonomously played a 466 Hz note at approximately 500 decibels for 2.5 seconds before combusting from the sheer mechanical stress.
Not only should it have combusted from sheer mechanical stress, that would have been enough to kill everyone within 500 miles at the very least.
To quote from Scott at Polite Dissent:
Sounds louder than 120dB cause pain. Higher than 140-150dB can rupture the eardrums. 220dB Saturn V Rocket launch, 230dB is equal to being at the epicenter of a Richter 4.0 earthquake, 240dB is the level from an F5 tornado, and 257dB are produced by 1 megaton nuclear bomb.
Would 500 decibels be enough to destroy the earth, or kill all humans? Dunno, I'd have to do the math. But it would definitely be at least an octillion times more powerful than a one-megaton nuclear bomb, so my guess is yes.
I think part of my problem is a difficulty with taking it seriously. Between the "names" of the creatures and their manner of speaking, I can't help but think that Dr. Seuss was involved in early containment protocol design.
Certainly not the containment protocols in any case.
For future reference, SCP-1594 are voiced by Justin Roiland.
Actually, I got a Seuss vibe off of this as well, but that's something I like about it, along with their inability to understand things like life, death, and harming others. There are definitely some tonal issues, but given the sorts of things you're trying to describe here, fixing those is going to take a lot of work. +1 to keep it afloat.
Mmm!
It's strange to say the least, and maybe a bit too weird and silly, but I can't deny I enjoyed reading it. Upvoted.
Ok, the only thing I can't like is that is implied that the movements can't even be understood with a high-speed camera… even the skips that dissapear are explained as 'disappearing between frames', so some explanation could be given other than 'we can't understand it', sounds odd to me.
