Wrote this as part of my story for NaNoWriMo, after discussion I thought I'd throw it up here. In my mind, not all of Are We Cool Yet uses, or even knows about anomalous art. The one thing they have in common is that they're all kind of nuts.
The tale itself, I dig it. A lot. I smirked and I laughed. I want to upvote, but this is in no way remotely connected to the Foundation and all that connects it to AWCY? is the fact that this concerns an art installation. I just read your opening post on this discussion thread, and I can see where you're coming from, but it honestly sounds as if you're desperately trying to shoehorn something you wrote into this setting.
So, no vote unfortunately.
You know what, Cain's right. Fuck this, I'm far too much of a curmudgeonly old fart. +1
My NaNo actually has its own version of the Foundation and most of the GOIs. I just took this segment of it out because it worked nicely by itself, and thought it might work as a tale. I see what you're saying about it seeming a bit shoehorned though, it's not being presented here as part of the larger narrative so I guess the relationship to the Foundation isn't as clear.
Agreeing with Crayne, I didn't see that it was for something else; I maintain my upvote, though, because it still SPEAKS to me.
My computer is buttz, so I didn't change it, but there are at least two instances of the word 'wilfully'. I'm not 100% positive, but I checked the spell check in Word, and it comes up as misspelled. I want to say the correct spelling is 'willfully', but then I googled it, and there are spellings of it like that and bah! I know nothing.
I can't help but feel the artist holds the key to the anomalous properties of his work. Gifted with the power to mold everyone to think and feel a certain way, he uses the power to torture them and blame them for not understanding anything about his art. Man… really disturbing.
Nah man, it says it's all nothing more than exactly what it appears to be. Incredibly easily avoided dangerous situations which people are just too damn stupid to know not to interact with.
I like the tale, but I agree with others that it could have been presented anywhere else because of the lack of connection with the SCP Universe.
I think the creator (of the attraction, not the tale) is un-knowingly anomalous, creating irresistible memetic effects. He even gets himself with one.
Man! This exhibit sounds so fucking awesome! I would pay any price to visit it. But as it is now, I can only give you an upvote.
I can only imagine how tempting it would be to try any one of those things.
