Lately I've been seeing some complaints/comments about new SCPs or drafts that the article didn't have a narrative or story, and so wasn't any good, regardless of the rest of the article's quality or content. Although I do enjoy articles with good narratives embedded or implied, I don't feel that such a narrative is required in order to make a good SCP and I'm slightly concerned that that's being seen as such. So here's my challenge:
Write a SCP that doesn't have a backstory or narrative attached. It's just something that's weird and mysterious and breaks the laws of reality. Bonus points if whatever its anomalous properties are don't obviously connect to what it is/appears to be (i.e. how SCP-426's primary effect of identity blurring has nothing to do with making toast)
