Criticisms and Semantics

I personally think you could just stick it in any old box and call it a day, but it's not bad. It just highly passes a Locked Box Test.

The comma in the middle there is unnecessary.

Also, do these shadows exist solely in 2d space? As in, they only exist on walls, floors, etc? They need surfaces on which to exist, if I'm not mistaken?

Document 1553-C impresses me, good job staying in line with the tone of Wondertainment advertisements.

The concept is good, but your language and tone in describing it is…kind of hard to follow. The description tells us what it is, yes, but parts of it are kind of obfuscated such that its hard to be sure about the object itself.

Also, you mention Incident 1553-1 but have no Incident attached. Is this because it's coming later or was it an intentional decision to leave it out?

Also, your picture mentions White Lab-01, but the containment procedures mention White Lab-02.

All in all, it's pretty good, might need a midge of work, but manages to be highly clinical despite being a Wondertainment SCP. Upvoting for concept, clinical tone, and especially the Wondertainment advertisement.

White-Lab 02 is to be kept under constant remote video surveillance.

It sounds like the lab is supposed to be kept lit 24 hours a day. If that's right, that should be explicitly noted, and the containment procedure should also say something about a replacement schedule for the lights.

So… the wya you make it sound is if you apply it to a surface, it make a random shadow object. But then you say you can make specific shadow objects? Maybe if you made it so what ever shadow falls across the painted surface…. dunno.

Some grammar needs to be fixed here and there, but the Scip was generally nice.

I dig breach Protocol 012-Trundholm. Experiment 37, which I think is the juiciest one, is not as clear as it could be. To me, it reads as though the same parts that lost coherency and required cleanup also remained suspended in mid-air at the same time. I don't quite follow how that went down. Oh, maybe it was all the other parts that required cleanup? I guess that makes sense, but it could stand to be rephrased. +1

Real classic Wondertainment stuff here. I especially love "Ani-Magi-Nation".

I will admit to being confused by the bulleted list, specifically by the term "phantom object", which doesn't appear prior to it. Does this paint create an object in real space in a position such that it would be casting the painted shadow? Or is that term meant to denote the shadow itself?

The mechanics are a bit confusing, particualrly the phantom object and it's position/motion in space. But I'm not sure if that is something that can be fixed in the writing, it's a pretty mechanically confusing concept. One of those things that would be easier to demonstrate than it is to explain. Too bad that's not an IRL option, this would be fascinating stuff to play experiment with.

I thought the seed idea had potential when I first saw it, and I'm glad to see that potential so well realized.

This is horrendously confusing. No vote for now while I read it again and try to get it to make sense.

Okay… you can paint things with the paint as though they were the shadows of actual objects, and then interact with them, and if you paint a living thing, the shadow will behave like that living thing. You can erase shadows with the sponge, and if it was cast by a real object, the object kinda disappears.

I feel it could be much better explained, but it's a cool idea, and reasonably well explored.

One question: if you can interact with the shadows as if they were real things, what does that look like? When the first test subject grasped the hammer, did the shaft run over the outside of his fist? Or was the part of it that would be obscured by his hand were it a real hammer obscured? If the shadow cat stood on your shoulder, you'd feel it there, would you not? And your shadow would look like you had a real cat on your shoulder? So what would happen if you moved away?

Argh it makes my head hurt

I'm actually working on designing a diagram or two to make it easier to see. This was my first successful SCP ever… and it shows when you compare it to my more recent work.

Weirdest thing: it's actually quite simple, but trying to describe it in clinical language is really complicated. We'll see if I can do those diagrams well.
