Damnit, Gears. This is going to bug me whenever I read this. I'm unclear what was so objectionable about making 877. Sockpuppeting seems like its only a problem when abused. I've been on a number of forums where having multiple accounts is perfectly acceptable and common. Was there something more?

Ok, I know I shouldn't ask, but what's the deal with Wanderlsut? The first time I saw this site was at october 2011 so I have now ay to know. I don't ask for a complete explanation, just what was so good about it…
What was supposedly so good about it. From what I heard, it was filled with Mary Sues and featured a scene where Clef dual-wielded AK-47s.
If that's good writing, then Steve is the highest rated SCP on the site.
I think a lot of the popularity was that it was an actual long(ish) storyline with a lot of build up and references to other works. I don't remember much of Clef in it, other than a few brief cameos.
It was really centered around his 808 as a messiah character involved in a war between the electronic and clockwork dimensions, with Kain playing a major role in getting things moving.
It was very compelling. By modern site standards, the prose was somewhere between decent and not great. But the content of the story was so engaging, and encompassed so much site canon, that you kept coming back for more. I mean, sure, Clef with dual AK-47's is a silly image, but it worked in the context of the story.
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!

Which version is told by the menfolk and which by their goodlady wives is left as an exercise for the reader.
I actually remember this stuff! I suspect I started reading the wiki right around the time the Fishmonger debacle happened, since I remember those tales and SCPs. I always wondered what had happened to 808, but I figured it was a mary-sue purge.

Actually, his stuff has been gone long enough that without history pages and old forum threads, there is no reason for a new person to even know who he was.

Hm, yeah, I think all this went down when I was taking a hiatus from the site. I do remember Wanderlust, though, but I honestly couldn't really care much about it. Never read more than a couple chapters and the ending.

She didn't just "read" them. She could straight up talk with them.
Eh, 808 was always kind of an embarrassing dork fantasy girl. I don't remember Wanderlust grabbing me in any particular way either; it felt a lot like that one fantasy novel we all write (or plan to) when we're 15, except given a marginally larger audience.
I was wondering if Fishmonger was going to be mentioned in this series. I remember he was stupidly protective of his articles, particularly 808, and whenever you talked about any of them you had to have nothing but praise, lest he get pissy at you. He's actually the reason I originally left the site, his attitude was ridiculous (obviously it didn't stick, but still).
Anyway, I'm loving this history, can't wait for the rest.
