After some critique on non-SCP websites and a lot of fine tuning, I decided that this was good to post. Honestly I'm not even sure if I should have taken a Series II spot, but the oppurtunity was just too good to pass up.

The official title for this is "Grapes from Dawn Farm and Ranch", but since I can't edit the title I'll have to wait for a mod to do it manually.

Like the concept but I think the description of its growth cycle needs some tweaking and there are some SCP-XXXX still in there.

Excellently written but I found the ideas shown being somewhat mediocre, average times for each growth stage would be a nice start, "Dawn Farm and Ranch prides themselves in providing healthy, slightly genetically modified food to our consumers." seems foolish and unnecessary, the researcher could have asked about his old name as well as designation(wait nm he did), he could have also asked about SCP-1255-1's remembered history, "SCP-1255-1 will no longer require energy from food and rather gain energy from photosynthesis." could be moved to stage 2 as that's when leaves actually start growing and it becomes still because it would otherwise not provide nearly enough energy and that should atleast be mentioned, how do they pick if their fingernails have woven together(does it come off?)? 20 times should probably be an approximate and would still take several months to grow that much anyway, and how does the seed get all the way to the brain without getting stuck?.

Also I really liked the interview, if anything it was a bit brief, tones nice, how SCP-1255-1 speaks is a bit unsettling and the tactics of it are nicely evident yet you could see how you'd be taken in by a casual conversation with this guy if had no reason to be suspicious which is a nice bit of subtlety that's hard to do.

Hey there Evonix, I appreciate your feedback but I feel like there were a couple of things you missed when reading the article.

1. The seeds are microscopic and trick the body into allowing them to travel through the bloodstream, so my idea was that it would travel through the body until it eventually lodged itself inside the brain.

2. I included the bit about the Farm because, in my own head, Dawn Farm and Ranch is just an anomalous agriculture company that only wants to distribute their produce. It's a bit like Dr. Wondertainment in one way or another. They aren't lying when they say that it is "slightly genetically modified".

3. My idea for including the photosynthesis bit in stage 1 was that they already were becoming plant people, as I said the veins already became green. I didn't really think that there had to be leaves in order for photosynthesis to start.

4. As for the fingernails bit I didn't really do a lot of research on that. I'll look up some stuff on it later this week and edit that bit.

5. I didn't feel the need to say exactly when each growth stage began? It didn't feel necessary imo since it already said that the time frame is 1 week to 1 month. There is no exact time frame for each cycle, if anything all I could do is an average time frame which just seems unnecessary.

While it gives me sorrow to see that this article has a much lower score than what I would have hoped for, I do understand that it has several problems. What I think I may do if this doesn't gain any traction is just delete it from this slot and work on it for a couple more weeks and maybe repost it to this series II slot if I get lucky.

2 "slightly genetically modified" just sounded to me a bit like you're trying to make a small joke and I found it didn't add much to the tone, I suppose that's a matter of my interpretation though, I don't actually know the intent.
3 I got that but the energy from that wouldn't be near enough to remove the need for food while mobile so that would be noted by the reserchers. Or note in that stage food need seems to reduce slightly?
4 saw the edit, nice. I do question "mutate into"
5 It may not be nessesary but I think it could add depth, detail and tone, I mean what would a hypothetical resercher put in? What would a hypothetical agent wanna know?
Of course my suggestions were mostly just brainstorming and opinions, take what I say with a pinch of salt as I say things that I think are worth thinking about but are not definitely good advice

I suppose I didn't really write the two big reasons for my downvote. firstly it's mostly been done, the plant people, the mind control to spread, the extranormal company that trys to act normal badly, for example 1285, 3342, 2009. This is far from fatal but it does mean you already have a standard to reach to stand out and above, I suggest thinking about the details, how it all works, make the ideas more your own and make it deeper. Of course you're already doing that

The other reason is that it's just not my thing, I like the strange and utterly new. Baskets, grapes, trickery, parasites, companies, roads, changing, I know these things, they're in a new arrangement but these are concepts I recognise.

Anyway removed my downvote

College bio student here. While I like the article and the whole SCP salesman thing is taken in a unique direction, I do have a few gripes, mainly relating to tone and proper scientific terminology/phrasing.

All instances of SCP-1255 are to be preserved in an airtight container and kept in a freezer unit maintained at a temperature of -17°C. All containers storing SCP-1255 instances must be clearly labeled that they are not for consumption. In the event personnel is found to have consumed SCP-1255, medical staff should be immediately contacted for an emergency expulsion of stomach contents to prevent conversion into SCP-1255-1.

I think you need to be more specific as to including a site and perhaps even a cold storage wing that these grapes are stored in so that it doesn't come off that these grapes are shoved into any random freezer somewhere where some janitor can just pop one in their mouth.

Investigation into the Group of Interest "Dawn Farm and Ranch" is currently ongoing.

I'm 100% fine with you starting a new GoI, but maybe you should consider giving them a random Foundation ID, like GoI-9345 or something. Makes the phrase more clinical. Overall a minor nitpick.

Consumption of SCP-1255 will cause the subject (herein referred to as SCP-1255-1) to experience a series of physical and mental changes, otherwise referred to as the "growth cycle".

The use of "otherwise" implies that there has been previous research into this sort of thing before, and that another scientist has used this term. In a scientific article, that sentence would have to either be changed for clarity or properly cited. Perhaps consider this, or some variation of it that would better suit your writing style.

Consumption of SCP-1255 by a non-anomalous human will induce a series of physical and mental changes, resulting in the subject transforming into an instance of SCP-1255-1. This metamorphic shift will hereafter be referred to as the "growth cycle" of SCP-1255.

Upon an MRI scan of an SCP-1255-1 instance, it has been discovered that the seeds within SCP-1255 will become attached to the outer tissue of the stomach wall upon consumption. The seeds will emit an unknown acidic substance, breaking down stomach fibers enough not to harm SCP-1255-1 and for the seed to exit the stomach and enter the bloodstream. SCP-1255 possesses a gene that allows it to trick the white blood cells into allowing its seeds to travel through the bloodstream as a non-foreign object. SCP-1255 seeds will travel through the veins of SCP-1255-1 until it reaches the brain. SCP-1255 will sprout within the brain of SCP-1255-1, altering the memories and behavior of their host in order to aid in the spread and survival of SCP-1255.

Scientific jargon is jargony.

• "Outer" in anatomical terms means "exterior". The outer surface of the stomach is basically the smooth muscle and connective tissue on the outside of the organ. The proper term you are looking for (if you're talking about the innermost layer of the stomach) would be the "mucosal rugae"
• Due to the constant generation of mucus by the aforementioned rugae of the stomach, the epithelial tissue that make up the rugae cannot be harmed by acidic substances. Our stomachs have a pH of around 2, which is incredibly acidic, and yet the cells live because of the mucus. Instead, simply have the SCP-1255 seed just float around in the stomach as it is. Plant cell walls are made of cellulose. Acid cannot break the beta-dehydration bonds between glucose molecules, and neither can pepsin, which is the only enzyme in the stomach. That's why you sometimes see corn in your poop. Our bodies can't digest it anyways. No need for fancy secretions.
• It would be much easier for SCP-1255 seeds to just wait like 30 minutes to an hour until they're flushed into the small intestine. From there, they could diffuse into the blood directly. Saves the hassle of boring through an entire organ, causing an ulcer, and then trying to find the nearest blood vessel.
• The whole "possesses a gene that…" thing is pretty much a scientific cop out. If you want to get technical with it, yes, all traits and abilities come down to genetics, but pretty much every scientifically literate person would cringe if they read that sentence in a peer-reviewed journal. The truth is that foreign objects usually have a really hard time getting around the body without causing an immediate immune response. Most things that can do this effectively by either hijacking living cells to move around (like most viruses, sans replication), blocking the immune response (like many parasites), or destroying our immune systems outright (like HIV). Since these seeds are incredibly small, have them infiltrate the red blood cells for a quick ride up to the brain. This also gets them past the whole "blood-brain barrier" problem too. Or, you could always go for the classic "How SCP-1255 seeds do not trigger an immediate immune response is not currently known."
• Minor gripe, but veins go to the heart and arteries go away from it. One word shouldn't be used to describe both. "Circulatory system" would be a better term to use.

1-800-DAWN

Phone numbers have 10 digits (11 if you count the long distance extension). Even if the number isn't real, it should have three more numbers or letters in it. 1-800-BUYDAWN or something would be much better.

NOTE: Stage 0 has only been found to occur during the very first growth cycle of SCP-1255-1 due to SCP-1255 not being at its potency. All subsequent cycles begin at stage 1.

This entire footnote isn't clear. The stages appear to the phases of the growth cycle, unless I'm reading wrong. How does Stage 0 occur during Stage 1 then? Honestly, I would just scrap this footnote and add those symptoms from Stage 0 to Stage 1.

I know this site is really more of a pseudoscientific thing, but anatomically correct explanations and proper scientific usage is still important, because these are doctors and scientists we are talking about here. Kind of breaks the suspension of disbelief when an article comes off as written by a layman. Hope my critiques help.

Nice concept, and trying to start a GoI is always the first step for a succesful and easily recognizible Group. But a comment above (explaining the scientific inaccuracies) and the second picture are reasons for me to not give an upvote. Remove that second picture, it breaks suspension of disbelief.

In the interview, "Danny" first references living on Raisin Drive, then says that he instead lives on Raisin Avenue… I'm not quite sure if this discrepancy is intentional or not.

The only thing I dislike about the article is the third picture. It breaks my immersion cause it's so obviously a plastic statue.
