Thanks to the following:

• Taffeta and The Great Hippo for their critique and suggestions, particularly regarding the final sections of the tale. Made it a lot better.
• scarhaver for letting me read her Mr. Destiny draft again so I could repick up on minor concepts and themes from that to utilize in this.
• kinchtheknifeblade because SCP-3012 is thematically super good when writing about this particular aspect.

Couple of things to note:

• All of this is canon to SCP-3090.
• "Arcade Hare" is a dual reference to Danganronpa 2 (Arcade Rabbit; spoiler warning there, I suppose) and the Arcade Bunny. I couldn't think of a cleaner way to do it.
• Most dates are intentionally kept vague to keep flexibility.
• Andressa is referred to as "mommy", Dahlia as "mom".
• I'll put more here as I think of them.

It's weird that nobody has commented on this yet.

I think it's pretty clear how I generally respond to this sort of thing, so color me surprised when I found not just the scenery engaging, but also the characters and their motivations as well. Parts of the story are so fanciful and endearing you can't help but just tear into them, which makes the darker parts that much more expressive. You can feel the dull ache of her heart throughout those sections, you can almost see the glassy look in her eyes. It's very good.

The ending is also abruptly self-aware. I thought I was annoyed by it at first, but the more I thought about it the more it spoke to me. I don't know how meta that shit is supposed to be, but it's almost the theme of the entire piece.

"Hey… Andy."

"Hmm?"

"We have no idea what the fuck we're doing."

"Yeah."

If all of these were this aware of themselves, I don't know. I just think this is as closely connected to a few lines of text as I've felt in a while.

wow. this story was so believable in the actions of the characters and stuff. this was really good.

This does a wonderful job of fleshing out SCP-3090's character, it's heartbreaking and heartwarming and despite the fantastical situation, it's real as shit.

Heartily upvoted, and swapped to an upvote on the SCP as well, since taking this as a companion piece more than compensates for what I felt was missing in the skip.

I really like this. The original article felt like it had a story, but it wasn't adressed enough and just added to give weight to a GAW article. This totally changed my perspective on it. This is amazng characterization and I think its a great companion piece. +1

What Passes as Normal was the tale that got me into GAW, it’s pretty rad to have another tale about dahlia and andressa, especially one this good. +1

It is written well but there is one thing that I'm not sure I'm getting. Was 3090 just walking around freely with its anomalous effects visible?
Edit: I just reread it. I just missed the part that explained it.

Happy to see more GAW content. When I got started reading GAW it felt like the misters were a bit out of character and dubiously moral for them, so I'm happy to see the human motivation expanded upon. Plus it's just a lovely well written tale overall! +1
