Should anyone whose articles are crosslinked here like those crosslinks/references removed, please ask and I will remove it. And if DrClef would like this whole thing taken down for screwing with his creation, I will happily do that too.

This 001 Proposal is part of the Doomsday Contest, representing Team "End-of-the-Contest Scenario" and our "Tashkent-Class "Cross-Pollination" Scenario". The scenario is centred around two very different types of anomaly coming into contact with one another, causing things to somehow go wrong with the universe and causing an apocalypse.

But, Tufto, isn't the Scarlet King already an SCP?

No. Or at least, only maybe. If you look into the comments of 2317, Clef makes it clear that 2317 being the SK is only an interpretation. 2317 MIGHT be the Scarlet King, or it might just be a deliberate red herring to throw people off. So I'm trying to take a similarly ambiguous position here.

And on that subject- this 001 is meant to be read from the perspective of an O5, as I think I imply. This is why 2317 is referred to as being the SK and not 2317-K; in the final iteration, they just straight up say that 2317 is the Devourer.

I am sure a lot of people won't like this interpretation, or the delivery. But, hey, I figure it's worth a shot :p and as a 001 it doesn't have to be canon, so feel free to completely disregard.

Looks like there are two people who understood what I was getting at with 231 and 2317. I wouldn't exactly say that this article matches up to what I originally intended with 231, but I think it adds an interesting take to the whole Scarlet King Mythos

When I thought that SCP-2317 is the best thing that existed on the site…

I stumbled on this, and my mind is completely blown out of proportion.

This, this gives amend to horrible name that is "Montauk" that's been writhing inside my mind with burning hatred ever since I discovered SCP-231 and permanently scarred by that file. Ever since that day I asked, who's the man who responsible for this absolutely unforgivable inhuman cruelty?

Then you show me the person, in the most humanely way possible.

Now the cycle is complete.

This is officially my fave SCP entry ever.

Absolute mad man. Well played, and I eagerly await the rest of your team’s follow up.

Like… ok the lore here and the story is great, but what really sells this for me is the goddamn references to the real life wiki evolution that make perfect sense in context. Everything from the 173 line to the fucking amnesiacs bit was gold.

It’s a history book of an 001, and a center piece of site lore. I can’t think of a single box this does not tick.

God damn you hit what I was saying spot on.

For a 001, it has the perfect balance of references to old articles, the vastness and bureaucraticness of the Foundation, and buildup to that lovecraftian fear and foreboding.

Overall, it deserves so much more attention. Keep doing what ya do.

I absolutely love this, please don't delete this one under any circumstances.

Fantastic fusion of many articles to create a bold and compelling reinterpretation of an enduring mystery. Bravo.

You've still got a couple grammar errors in there (you're should be your in one of the interviews and there's a tense error in the O5's statement on Montauk's work), and I don't like the Hiemal namedrop considering the the controversy over the class and the fact that it doesn't seem to really apply here since this isn't 2 anomalies in one. But these are nitpicks, and don't detract from the majesty.

Glad you liked it. Am definitely not deleting this one because it'd royally screw over my teammates to delete this now :p.

The amount of times you've made me say "Holy Shit" to myself while reading this was astounding. Personally this is going to take the Broken Gods place as my favorite 001 Proposal

... Okay. I think I get what the laws are.

The Law of Blood: Blood as in 'family'. Mountauk lost a brother to the Children, giving him a connection to SCP-001. Possibly why sacrifices are demanded: you must lose someone close to serve the King.
The Law of Concrete: Concrete as in 'real'. The Scarlet King is not real, but everyone wants him to be, hence, the law being created from an unknown source, as you can't really give credit here. The Foundation is partly to blame, for trying to put a label on him and put him in a box.
The Law of Howling: Emotion, maybe? As in despair or sorrow? 110- Mountauk was the product of spite, Robert expressed his loss (blood) into a containment procedure (concrete). And howling is an expression of grief.

But hey, it's just a theory. An SCP THEORY!

I am surprised by this approach to the Scarlet King, but it was well-written and made me think. That means you get my upvote. +1.

Oh, when Tufto writes an 001 proposal for a contest, he gets upvotes and praise. But when I do it, it turns out horribly. Probably shouldn’t have written an 001 for the 72 hour jam…

+1. I’m not an experienced writer, but holy hell was that a blast to read. Your proposal is a very funny yet still horrific (in a good way) depiction of the Scarlet King. The mention of other significant skips like SCP-3000, -2747 and 3125, though minor, shows clearly that no matter what horrors the Foundation faces, they WILL find a way to contain an anomaly.

What I found funny is how the Scarlet King, an entity far more powerful than the Apollyon 2317, is classified as safe, despite the risks the King poses.

I very much like the idea that the Scarlet King is just that - an idea. Thematically, it perfectly suits the Foundation as a concept: men who don't just take control of, but embrace the darkness, until eventually they are one and the same.

Seriously.

You've got tremendous hooks with "Keter Safe", Montauk's name, and the burgeoning mystery of "why the fuck don't we need to contain the Scarlet goddamn King?" But the whole time, I couldn't not be bothered by first, we've already got 2317, and second, your "oh, well that's not really the Scarlet King". I mean, Clef's comment above justifies it, so it's fine, but it still bothered me.

But I can't let it bother me because There Is a Canon Now. This is worthy of upvotes, so it gets upvotes! Or, well, one, because that's all I got. :B

That said, the whirling cacophony of anti-modernism, struggling with 231, and opposition to imperialism and/or cultural appropriation (which is not bad in and of itself) is the weirdest soup. I cannot grasp what you were trying to say with this, if, indeed, you were trying to say anything at all.

This conflicts handily with my headcanon (and eventual alchemy-canon) of what the scarlet king is, but at the same time, it doesn't.

Nice work. A genuinely entertaining read.
