Thanks to Westrin, Varaxous, and MaliceAforethought for pushing me to make this a little more than it was, and thanks to BlazingTrail for scoping it out near the finish.

Also thanks to djkaktus for creating dado and approving of this iteration.

All-in-all, I just had that “hare growth” thing stuck in my head after reading dado stuff and had to get it out; thankfully the top of my head and other body parts stayed attached.

A little heartwarming:
I’m really happy with my headcanon that dado tried not to hurt the kids, even if he didn’t/chose not to understand what he was actually supposed to do.

A little horrifying:
I got some WTFs in crit for the Beta manifestation, so I’m happy about that.

There have been quite a few dado articles in the last month, to the point where I was worried I'd be burned out on him.

Thank you for proving me wrong. I was concerned that the "dado misunderstands request" gimmick would wear thin, but it genuinely works here because I could believe that dado understood the request perfectly, but thought this would make the children happier. +1

Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed it! I didn’t want to stray too far off of formula since this is my first time writing for someone else’s PoI, but the tiny switch of him being “helpful in his own way” made me happy.

I like this characterization of dado. He definitely seems like the kind of guy that talks fast/over people. It goes well with how he is constantly mistaking what people are actually wanting out of his medicine (he works fast and thinks fast, so he trips over small things like homophones). Specific, but still wrong, is sort of the dado trademark, imo.

Edit: dado doing this "bone pro no" for a child is super sweet. I'd like to believe he's always like this.

What happens to people with hair who use this? And what about people who have bald spots or have cut off hair from the sides of their head like this?

I'm going to novote this.

One the one hand I'm really getting sick of dado. dado articles are for the most part very formulaic and predictable, and this follows the formula almost to a T, including the ridiculous conversation where dado comically misunderstands something. Their weird speech/typing/whatever patterns stopped being funny to me after the first few times.

On the other hand, there's a wonderful narrative here about dado being good and wholesome and trying to help out a sick kid. I think the fact that they're not helping out criminals for once is great, and I love the idea that they genuinely made that kid's day.

I think if this didn't have the phone conversation I'd +1 it, the misunderstanding is clear enough without the pointless dadologue.

Capitalize dado's name one more time I swear to a fucking wrathful god.

I'm adding that in place of the floating sixth rule, which will now be the floating seventh rule. Just as a reminder to anybody who happens by here and doesn't want to earn my ire, here are rules:

Rules 4 dado

Rule #1) dado is incredibly good at what he does.
Rule #2) dado is profoundly bad at communicating effectively.
Rule #3) u trust dado
Rule #4) dado has Amazon Prime.
Rule #5) Like all great capitalists throughout history, dado is the proud owner of laundry and tan (and potentially other businesses, dado is not picky)
NEW RULE #6) dado is dado.
Floating Rule #7) The nature of dado, being a personality of infinitely complex intrigue, cannot be defined in any single or concrete way. As such, the floating seventh rule dictates that anything sufficiently funny or narratively interesting enough can become part of the larger dado id at the whim of djkaktus (and/or others, if they prove to be sufficiently funny or narratively interesting enough).

So it is, so it shall be.

Agreeing with toa_vine - dado has to run out of steam eventually, but this entry was really nice. It nails what I really liked about the original dado article, which is the ambiguity whether the anomaly is a mistake/misunderstanding or just a unique approach to problem-solving (hare even better than hair, u trust dado).

Edit: also, holy shit, dado was totally prepared to take a shot at curing that kid's cancer. I would love to see an article about what would happen if he tried something like that.

kaktus actually mentioned that in chat once as an idea; it cures cancer, but also kills people who are Cancer and is lethal to crabs.

I'm pretty sick of Dado spam at this point, but unlike the last few I quite liked this one. The misunderstanding was at least somewhat understandable while still being entertaining, and the wordplay was on point.

Have to agree with rubberchickenzilla, this is finally feeling like one dado too far, but the story is good enough I don't feel the need to downvote.

It is unknown if this effect was intentional.

That said, is it really necessary to state this?

I think stating it was necessary in this case, because the original intention was to get a "Hair Growth Tonic," he actually made a "hare growth tonic," and also the hares have anomalously rapid hair growth. Did dado mean for the hares to grow hair?

Considering that it seems that dado can 100% hit his intended goals (the tonic never hurts children), but is also careless in other situations, trying to figure out which effects are intentional or not might have merit in testing.

The dado articles are like flipping a coin. Some are just the standard “oh ho ho dado don’t know English too good” but then there’s these ones that still have the misunderstanding but have a bit more behind it. Dado just genuinely wanted to make these kids happy again, even if he misunderstood how to do it. +1
