Writing a -J calling out all the things you dislike about a family member isn't very funny.
It just feels meanspirited. Also, none of us have met this person, so most of us won't get why this is funny.

It really isn't written about any of my family members, or anyone I know actually. The people listed in this skip are works of fiction. My earlier announcement post was dry and tongue-in-cheek. Perhaps I should amend it slightly.
Lighten up, Magnus, this isn't about any Barbara in particular. Lots of people know that one person who is either a pathological narcissist or just a plain selfish asswipe. This is just the anomalous version.

I have no idea who you are, but we're definitely not friends, or close enough for me to feel like this is appropriate. Feel free to disagree with my feedback, but skip the condescension next time.
The only reason this isn't a staffpost, is because it would be a conflict of interest.
First off, Magnus, adressing you by a made-up internet username isn't rude and shouldn't require familiarity. Aside from your comment, that's likely literally all tgey knows about you. If they were to call you Chris, then that would probably be pretty dickish, but their comment was in no way inappropriate, expecialy in a —J discussion. I'm not trying to tell you what you're allowed to get offended by, but it could get difficult thinking that someone waving hello was trying to start a fight.
(Also I just remembered I'm relatively new here so that could be the highest form of offense on this site, and I wouldn't know. I'm just trying to help off of the rest of the internet)
Second off, with that behind us, I think you might be missunderstanding the comedy aspect of this —J. The humor doesn't come from the writer ranging about their family, the humor comes from the researcher ranting about their family, and getting so infuriated that they make a database entry out of spite. Or maybe I have that wrong to, but, you know, food for thought.

I believe it was more the tone of the statement, not the use of the wikidot username, that seemed overly familiar to Magnus. I personally don't think it was excessive, but that's neither here nor there at this point.

Or maybe he just doesn't find it funny?
That said though, I think we can leave the conversation at that. Just as people are free to like things as they will, they are also free to dislike things as they will (obviously, so long as they still follow the site rules when expressing these preferences).
Totally agree. I myself didn't take it in the way DrMagnus did, but I guess everyone has their cup of tea.
Ehhhh I see what this is going for and someone I know does have a family member like this but it didn't make me laugh. It's a subject that's a bit dark and affects people in ways that are quite damaging so it's difficult to find the subject funny (I'm not saying you're offending anyone or anything, just that the way this has been done isn't particularly funny).
I didn't particularly intend it to be "light" humor, it's absolutely intended to be a darker, more awkward-family-business type humor, with a SCP spin as an anomalous object. If you know someone like this, I feel for you- I think everyone probably knows someone like this.
I know leople like this and had somw family probkems. K enjoyed your piece. Obviously I can't speak for everyone in situations with, or experience with, abusive behavior of this sort - but personally I liked it. Thank you.
This made me laugh. Maybe it's because I have people in my family like this lol. I also feel like the execution of this was pretty good so
+1
"annoyingly good health"
Funny, +1.
The second and third paragraphs of the desc could be combined. The second paragraph detailing Barbara's person is a bit clunky.
Logs are genius.
I personally think, that this could profit from extending the logs. If there were a few more, it could reach the point at which greentext comedy is reached.
This means not just laughing at the concept of something ridiculous, but also laughing at the sheer quantity of the ridiculous. Preferably with significant escalation.
Is there any significance to the number?
No significance- it was the first standard -J class number that was available. I like the idea of extending the logs, But I wanted to leave it in the grey area of "Is it REALLY anomalous, or is Barbara just a perpetually late narcissist?"
It was borderline but I upvoted for "annoyingly good health".
You've got a couple SCP-017-Js in your incident log that I think you want to be SCP-017-1-J. I'd fix them but I'm on my phone.
