Shit I loved that series!!! The tinkerers were my favorites. Almost no one references that series anymore.
it makes my fucking day that people are talking about worm
I desperately wanted to come in and quote a single line of this that I adore for how well written it is, but there are just too damn many to choose from!
And I'm not even a third of the way through this…
Yep this is great. So much to like here I don't know where to start.
I'm a little jealous actually because I had gotten it into my head to write a very similar concept to this, with some event or another giving a bunch of people weird powers and very publicly breaking the masquerade, and it looks like you've beaten me to it.
I can see this setting lasting long past the doomsday contest.
Norman hovered eldritch and horrible above them all, gazing downward with his hundreds of eyes, feeding the Queen the commander's innermost plans as he thought them and providing the defenders the profound unity of being able to think with one mind.
I had to make a second post about this quote. The imagery that this puts in my mind is absolutely orgasmic and incredibly detailed. I actually hope this turns into something more than just one tale. It's too phenomenal to remain that way.
The Holy Warrior walked. It had been a long time since he'd walked this far, but he was used to walking nonetheless.
Seconded. In fact, once I'd gotten over the sheer brilliance of it, this is the worst bit of the whole thing — the possibility that we might not get more of these characters. This needs to be a novel, or a series of novels, or a summer blockbuster film. It's too fantastic to leave alone.
This is like the X-men of the SCP-Foundation, finally done right. If this is expanded upon properly, it could be the next big GoI.
Take your +1.
On another note, (possibly on the expansion of this group), If the SCP doesn't typically alter mental states, there is no reason to believe the foundation wouldn't use it on, say, some of their most loyal agents or strike-team members.
Reminds me of the Gone series with people randomly developing superpowers and struggling to keep a society of mutants and non-mutants going.
Great stuff +1
You know, minus a stupid and unnecessary amount of sex, pointless red herrings that never get cleared up, a plot that breaks its own rules, and shitty, 8th grade writing. Other than that, yeah, exactly like Gone.
It’s the only YA series that ever held my attention until the end, so clearly it got something right.
Also as far as I remember there was very little sex.
Yeah, but the sex got pretty egregious at the end, especially considering the age of those… involved
