I like this, but I can't in good conscience upvote an article with bad formatting and its-it's errors.

I like this. Particularly how short and simple you left it, without unnecessary bits and bobs thrown in.
it's material
And formatting/grammar aside, it reminds me too much of SCP-144, which is far cooler from a thematic standpoint.
The writing here seems to be decent, so you're at least on the right track.

Fixed. Also, I totally forgot about that SCP existing, which is weird because it was probably one of the first ones I ever read back when I first stumbled on SCP. I think the themes diverge enough, though. SCP-144 is a means to transport yourself to places unknown. This is intended to restrain something unknown.
Well, yeah, I'm not saying that the two don't have different ideas behind them, I just don't think that this one is sufficiently different and well-executed to overcome their similarities. Keep writing, though.

Honestly, I think that this would be better without the block of dense stuff underground. Just a chain that goes up forever and down forever.
However, there are ways of measuring something that goes up into the atmosphere. Unless this was written in the fourth century or something.
Originally it was just a chain in both directions. However, I realized it would quickly wear away the earth around it with the contraction/tension cycle. This also gave me the lock thing; this runs the risk of being anomalous object long if I cut that, and without it there really isn't anything indicating the purpose of the chain (to restrain something); it's just a long-ass chain that keeps falling down at that point.
Also, they know how far it goes out into the atmosphere. The problem is it goes clean out into space… and just keeps going. Their lower limit through direct observation is lunar orbit. As I said, it's a long-ass chain.
I'm not going to vote. Maybe I'm over-thinking things, but, how would a plane not run into this at some point?
Yes. Maybe not very often, but some will eventually.
Foundation has reworked air routes around it, of course.
No vote. This is interesting and along the lines of the kind of Ophite SCPs I like, but the hook isn't strong enough.
Also dwarven megaconstructiun lol

This could have been something I liked. But the effect isn't interesting on its own, the purpose isn't clear enough for me to 'get it', and having read the comments the "restrain something" idea isn't expressed in the article at all.
And the worst part… we should be able to track this far, far beyond the moon's orbit. Aim a radar/laser beam of a certain frequency at it, look/listen for a reflection, and you should be able detect it from a distance of several AU, at least.
There's no hook, and there's really no way to fix that. -1
Yeah there's nothing interesting here or everyhting is too subtle for my brain at 4:30 AM.
