The "unclassified" part seems unnecessary.

How much of the are around it? If you left the highway and just keep walking/driving away from it what would happen? Would you run into a city? An invisible wall?

I don't see the similarity, other than "being transported to another world where things are a bit different."
It's the same kind of thing with a world after time has run out. Faminepulse mentioned it in the thread of the previous posting of this.
One of the few times that I really like the expungement. Overall this version is more in line with your normal "compellingly confusing" style. I like it.

I feel that the end could do with a bit more clarity.
The ghost is amusing, as is the mode of entry. I really the description of how the anomaly is entered.
IF cars don't work and you enter by car, does that mean everyone abandons their car and leaves by foot?
