I was possessed by a fit of manic creativity late last night.
I regret nothing. NOTHING.
e: Also, I told Roget I would post this picture for him.

Wow. This is really intriguing. I love the atmosphere.
Nothing else to add. Take your +1, and spend it all in one place.

Wonderful - pretty much one of my favourite types of objects, ones that have something completely WTF going on in a way that hints at some purpose.
Also, I loved the containment procedures.
One thing though
heavily pregnant
Is not clinical tone, it's not even english. Late-term pregnant , if anything.
Changed.
Also, I have no idea why you'd like the containment procedures so much. There's not a whole lot to them. Unless that's why you like it.
In a way. They , at least to me, feel extremely believable. The detailed procedure is outsourced into a document those needing to enact it will get, the manner in which it needs to be guarded is stated cleanly without overspecifying, and overall it just fits the object like a glove.
I'd like to see a lot more containment procedures written in this spirit, rather than "3x3x2.5 room with reinforced concrete walls which is probably a Foundation standard cell, but I'm going to specify it anyways to bulk it up".
Mind blowing thought: These are interdimensional manifestations of the "savages and their rotting lands" from the Third Antarctic Empire.
A specimen of Eucrossorhinus dasypogon (Tasseled wobbegong) inhabiting the main office. Specimen will attack any intruding organism at floor level.
If I wasn't going to upvote this because of the generalized awesome or the hints of post-apocalypticness in the note at the end, I would have had to for the carpet shark.
No complaints found. +1
Oh God I just looked that animal up.
Aaaargh

I wonder what linguists might conclude about the origins of the pidgin language of SCP-1329-1 from analyzing sufficient samples.
It's been awhile since Linguistics 101, but … if it's indeed a pidgin, they're probably not going to get much beyond sub- and superstrate languages—not much more than what you've got in the article, in other words. If it's indeed a pidgin, that does say a lot about the language's age though (in technical usage, a pidgin that's been around long enough for people to teach it to their kids as a mother tongue is called a "creole"), which in turn lets you make some interesting inferences about the kind of society SCP-1329-1 have/had.
That said, my main thought was "hang on, aren't most Central Asian languages really closely related? You could just say 'Turkic', couldn't you?" Which is one of those style niggles that's only going to bother someone who knows the field.
I was kind of muddy on what you were aiming for with most of this, especially things like the mechanics of the -1 instances noticing observers. That said, the end-note gelled the concept for me nicely. Upvote.
It's basically that if they're in a regular, repeated loop of behavior, they won't deviate from that unless someone forces them to. All the others just don't really seem to be completely aware that they're walking around an abandoned aquarium, or that they seem to be a universe away, and are generally unfazed by the people in lab coats watching them.
Upvoted for the sheer amount of thinking my brain is currently doing. You're one of my favorite authors on here. Keep it up.
The world needs more Djoric. We need to set up the infrastructure for Factory-produced Djoric to be shipped out to the masses. Or at the least, refine some concentrated Djoricate to be sent with MCF relief packages to areas heavily afflicted with Djoric deficiency.
Yo dawg, I heard you like tentacles…
Man. What a charming collection of seriously trippy shit. The somewhat nautical theme helps tie it all together, yet makes things like the pregnant woman and her child stand out even more. I have less than no idea what's going on in this place, but I'm okay with that.
Actually, that bit also ties back to the overall nautical theme. I present to you the Great Pacific Garbage Patch.
