An interesting, weird idea that's well-written and executed. I'm giving this an upvote, but I have a few nitpicks:

• I don't like that the last numeral of the year that this was recovered was redacted. There's no reason for it.
• Die Hard came out in 1988, not 1974.
• I don't get the note. Who's Carter? It sounds like Derwent Masterson is sending the SCP as a gift to someone named Carter, but it's recovered among Derwent's effects.
• Also, I don't particularly care for the "dude commits suicide" angle here. It's either implying that the SCP made him lose his mind or something, which feels a bit much, or it's an extraneous red herring.

I'm not sure about everything else, but as for the third bit:
Change the perspective of the note, just like the player changes the films. =)

Thanks for pointing out the Die Hard thing, it was a copy-paste thing. I agree with the redacted year, I think I just forgot to take it out.

As for the note, well.. like the films, it's undergone a change of perspective.

Not sure about the suicide angle, but I really enjoyed this one— the note at the end clinched it. Change of perspective, harhar. +1

I love this, particularly the Murder on the Orient Express. I do have a few problems, though. First of all, the use of [REDACTED] at the end of each example seemed superfluous. Second, the note didn't do anything for me, and in fact detracted from the article. Before it was a kind of interestingly weird and inexplicable thing, but now it's just some film critic making a really obvious point. When I first saw the note, I thought that this was an attempt to do one of those awful "literal-application-of-a-concept" Are We Cool Yet? articles, and was on the verge of canceling my up vote. The fact that I didn't is a testament to how much I like this. But seriously, the note/excerpt from a film critic that the Foundation would have no reason to care about is just kind of bad.

It's not the film critic making a point, it's a mysterious stranger making a point to a bad film critic, and the Foundation would probably keep the note since it's a clue about the origin of the item. But I take your point, I just thought the article would have been a little bland and pointless without some sort of backstory. Thanks for the feedback :)

You might want to change the note, then. As it reads, it sounds like it was sent by Derwent to Carter. Also, the means by which the Foundation acquired this are a little bit odd. There are plenty of SCPs that work fine without a discovery log, and I think that this is one of them. Still, good job!

Actually, the discovery notes pushed me to the upvote's direction. This SCP simply NEEDS a reason to exist, and reasoning a horribly awful film critic is a really spot on reason. I love when wrong people get slapped in the face with a rainbow fish.

This one is absolutely lovely, such a simple idea very well presented. At first I thought it was going to be too close to my SCP-981 but this is a very unique concept. +1

I like the fact that Star Wars did not change. It tells me that the SCP makes changes of the film narrative itself, and is not based on the fact that it is a piece of fiction. It acts as though the movie was real life, and what would happen if gravity, etc were reversed in that universe.

I wonder what would happen in a nature documentary, or a newscast recorded for this machine? Would the people involved know what was happening, unlike the fictional Poirot and McClain?

I Like the idea, but the suicide of the original owner does seem cliche, and one thing absolutely jumps out at me.
"Initial inspection revealed internal congruence with other models of the same product line, with one exception: a non-standard disc tray different in shape but not material from the original design."
The wording of that last part is extremely awkward. It also really seems like you are trying really hard to be ominous there; a better way to say it might be "Initial inspection revealed internal congruence with other models of the same product line, with the exception of a non-standard disk tray."

I love this, it actually made me laugh out loud; this might not the point of SCPs, but this is one of the ones I'd just love to play with… Until it fatally messed up my head or something, as is their wont. +1

This is completely original, and a clever idea. I particularly like how you use outdated technology. Adds to the mystery.
