Got to thinking, maybe a radar anomaly that causes aircraft crashes would be interesting. Feedback time!
Too similar to SCP-1558 for me. Also, it comes off as too "generic spooky thing with obvious explanation".
Admittedly, I'm more bothered by the 1558 similarities. "An anomalous broadcast that causes people to inadvertently kill others through accidents in an attempt to save a life that's not actually at risk" applies to both. I'm not accusing the author of plagiarism, of course, but they're just too similar for me to upvote.
Gotta agree with Catboy here. Both stories seem to me to be a little to try hard, but 1558 actually manages to grab your attention… (A little.) Downvoted.
I don't know about anyone else, but the sentence "directing 125.500 MHz frequency waves (Aviation Emergency Channel)" is irritating to me. I think it would be better if it were just "message on the Aviation Emergency Channel" or something similar. Overall this is a kind of bland idea, although I think it has some potential. No vote for now.
A decent take on a 'ghost plane' phenomenon, though I agree that the implied number of crashes caused due to this seems high - given the number of deaths is triple-digit and the number of crashes double-digit, can we assume that this thing is bringing down passenger jets?
Yeah, that was my idea with it. I had it set in the triple digits, but that was wayy to high.
To date, over ██ mid-air collisions and ███ deaths
To date, over 12 mid-air collisions and two deaths
That wouldn't seem inordinately high to me…
