…is… is this a mindfuck?
I feel immeasurably dirty. Also I probably need to get my brain checked for STIs.
Sexually Transmitted Ideas would make a great SCP.
I’m on it. This’ll be an interesting skip to write.
That was uncomfortably bizarre and damned clever. A true format screw.
+1
I…
I need to take a shower and wash off the shame.
holy heck you're back!!!!
Author fanboying aside, I'm sorry, I just wasn't able to get invested in the desired experience here. It might be how I'm somewhat sick of all the meta skips that have been flooding the wiki in recent times, or the format it's presented in. I like it too much to downvote, though, so I'll walk away with a novote.
Heh, it's cool man. I mean, this is like my first SCP in years, it certainly isn't going to work for everyone. Glad you took the time to look at it regardless of vote.
Like seagull, I am fond of your works but am not quite on board with this. The format screw works well until the end - maybe it's just me, but I was hoping for something more. After SCP-3626 I was honestly expecting a feghoot, but a serious ending is fine if it leaves me satisfied.
I guess I didn't get as emotionally invested in the outcome as others. -1, but I hope you continue writing.
Man, I have… many SCPs to catch on. Like, a whole bunch.
Anyway, like I said before, it's cool. This is a basic idea and I get that if the outcome doesn't catch you, it has little else to recommend it, all things considered. But, gotta shake the rust off somehow, and something a bit less ambitious seemed like the way to do it. Hopefully it will go smoother next time.
Looking forward to it! Myself and many other veteran authors returned recently for the 72 Hour Jam Contest so this is actually a good time to start writing again - we're getting a bunch of new submissions and Series IV is already at 600+ SCPs despite starting only 10 1/2 months ago.
If you'd like, you can also try your hand at the new GoI Formats.
(wikidot did a bad, see my below comment)
(I wrote out this comment just now but wikidot lost it, so apologies if this is a double post)
I gotta be honest, this one doesn't quite work for me.
I can't deny that it's very well done, and it's a neat idea, but…
For starters, the format screw isn't justified. Why is this its documentation?
And put completely bluntly, I feel like I've been scammed out of actual content. All these ideas are presented to me, but they're poor substitutes for actual content. It feels like these are the dregs of your other ideas, the things you've scrapped, and now you're hand-delivering them to me on a silver platter in place of a real SCP.
But what frustrates me most of all is that all of this is completely intentional. The fact that it has no justification to defend itself from my complaints is literally the whole point of the SCP. The skip scams people out of content, and the article does the same. It's genius, it really is. But it's the fact that I can't level a criticism at it without it laughing in my face that makes me feel like it's forcing my hand into an upvote when fundamentally it just doesn't work for me.
Ultimately this feels like a cop-out for actual content - a well-designed and incredibly executed cop-out, but a cop-out nonetheless. That makes me want to downvote.
If this were a -J or a tale, you'd get my vote no questions asked. But then it wouldn't quite have the same effect that it does now.
As it is, the SCP is actively fighting against my downvote. It's a stalemate - no vote from me, for now.
EDIT: It won.

These comments capture my feelings as well.
