This is Part I of Conspiracy. It is not so much a horror story as an intrigue thriller. I have studied intelligence and espionage fairly extensively throughout university, writing my senior thesis on intelligence analysis. This tale is essentially an attempt to write up a good spy story in the world of the SCP Foundation.

Before anyone speculates to the contrary, the character of Troy Muir, one-legged intelligence officer and Harper's officemate, is inspired not so much by TroyL (sorry, Troy!), but instead by the characters played by Robert Redford and Larry Bryggman in the Tony Scott film Spy Game.¹

Somebody had top level penetrations of nearly every major player behind the Veil, including the Foundation, and this was the first they were finding out about it? Nobody was that good.

I'm not sure if the GOI Nobody was around at the time this was published but that last phrase is quite interesting if instead of reading it like "No one was that good" its read like "Nobody was that good".
