Well, this collab is finally up! I'd like to give a huge thanks to my buddy Seward for helping me put this piece together. Wouldn't have picked them for the creative type myself, but the prickly guy has got some good ideas.

Thanks for weryllium, SunnyClockwork, DarkStuff, NineVolt, and others who I can't remember right now! (PM Captain Kirby and I'll add you).

Image up there was taken by Seward (and by Seward I mean Mendelssohn).

On a more serious note...

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Captain Kirby for working on the skip with me and just being really awesome in general. He was very patient with me throughout the collab- due to various health issues and life stuff happening on my end Cthulhu Kaktus ended up getting delayed to a ridiculous degree. He's pretty much the reason why Cthulhu Kaktus got finished, and he was overall super fun to collab with.

Thank you very much, Cap. I owe you.

P. S. Yup, the photo was taken by me and modeled by my very photogenic cactus, whose name is Seward. Don't worry, they're alright with molasses!

This is about as silly as you can get for a mainlist skip. I think it's the cuteness of their relationship that makes this work so well. +1

That last log is seriously cute, but the subscript letters invading the doom and gloom text was really hokey. I swear there's another skip somewhere that's kind of the same, a powerful being melded to a simple organism and sometimes overridden by its whims.

That would be Dmatix's SCP-1710 "Life as a Tree", which was on my mind throughout this as well.

Though the last log was cute as all hell, I really couldn't get into this. This whole shtick is something that's already played out for me, and it's not helped by how bare and generic the more Eldritch of the pair comes off as.

It's pretty adorable for it to be taking the cactus under its wing, it's certainly humorous, but the whole thing leading up to it felt really insubstantial, making this a little disappointing for me.

To be fair, I do agree with you on the whole aspect of Carnegias being plain. During the process of writing the skip I voiced concerns to Kirby multiple times that Carnegias was coming off as too generic. I couldn't think of anything else to flesh the character out though, so we went with what we currently had.
