That was… Interesting.
The young man was commended and executed.
I'm reminded of the ending of Pirates of the Caribbean 4, where the Spaniard shoots a man trying to claim the area for England, and before the gun's even stopped smoking states "Make a note of that man's bravery." You soon see someone in the background making said note. It's glorious in its simplicity.
According to the Imperial Infantryman's Uplifting Primer: the punishment for attempted suicide (failed) is flogging, strangulation, execution. The punishment for suicide (succeeded) is flogging and public exposure of the remains. For the Emperor!
Also of course, the tales of a Guardsman/group who are ordered to hold a position against a small force; the force is significantly larger than thought so they fall back, warn command, and instead of being subjected to a surprise rout they are able to fight off the force… And the Guard(s) is/are executed for not holding position like originally ordered.
For the… Emperor?
Wha…
Hm. This makes me want to write about the Foundation in an alternate universe where feudalism, barons, nobility, etc. kept being a thing through the modern day. Sort of a modern medieval thing.
if your reading this your gay

Well done, sir.
I thought I'd revamp and give myself a proper staff avatar. It's so much more professional now.
