Tonight on Coldpost Theater: A Story of a Serial Killer, written for the 72 Jam Hour Contest.

I can take absolutely zero credit for the title pun— either of them. The idea of a serial killer that kills serial stories, as well as a Character Assassin, is taken from the wonderfully metafictional Thursday Next series by Jasper Fforde— well, wonderful until Book 7. Then it gets weird.

I came up with this, from concept to posting, in less than three hours, and it probably shows— there's not much 'mystery' in this 'murder mystery'. The last time I coldposted an SCP, it went over as well as a greased-up tire in San Francisco— it went downhill fast.

I had a big ol' grin while reading this. The anomaly is basically what I figured it would be when you mentioned the title in chat, but man, the execution. And that ending—yowza! Contests aside, this is one damn fine skip.

That final log is really goofy (is "fictional" supposed to be misspelled?) and this just comes off as an excuse to write fanfiction. >.>

So, does Bob like permanently ruin Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter and stuff for everyone, or just certain copies of these books?

Like in the Foundation universe does Lord of The Rings end like that?

I'll probably go and clarify this once the contest is over (the 'no significant edits rule' applies), but it's meant to be a few copies that get fucked with, and people who read those copies have their perceptions altered.

Reading about narratives getting wrecked was fun, and the ending was not what I expected at all.

I really want to read the LOTR version. Still, I find this a bit of a strange skip. I don't know why I don't like it, this is the exact type of fanfic I love reading but something about this skip just doesn't sit well. I think it might be probably because it's that meta hero skip from series 3 but as a villain. Idk the number.
