An AWCY? SCP for people who can't stand AWCY?
Nope. I wavered on the possibilities for a brief moment but I'm just flat out done with them.
You could remove all references to AWCY? from this piece and not change in it the least. We really don't need to create SCPs to invoke or improve a lousy GOI, nor use a lousy GOI as some sort of meta narrative for every art themed SCP ever.
I won't tell you you're wrong, since we are all entitled to our own opinions and can downvote for whatever reason we damn well please, but I do register a very strong disagreement as to this characterization:
You could remove all references to AWCY? from this piece and not change in it the least.
IMHO without the narrative context this would be a much lesser piece. Might as well get rid of the historical context as well and just have a collage that eats people. That would be just as good…. Sorry, I just don't think so.
Unless what you're saying is that if the AWCY? was replaced by some random group unrelated to anything else… In which case I still don't think so. Besides being a pointless change, it would eliminate the climatic pun.
I would have upvoted if it was a different group from AWCY. The climatic pun is just fluff.
I'm having a hard time thinking of a SCP involving a GOI that *couldn't* have the GOI removed or substituted and leave it mostly unchanged.
I've seen you post on another AWCY? entry that it was "heavy handed bullshit", and otherwise post about how you think the group sucks.
I'd love to hear more about your specific issues with the group. Would you mind posting something in the AWCY? thread in the general forums about it or pm'ing me? (Not looking to change your mind, I'm just interested in the view point.)
The "heavy handed bullshit" comment was on an entry where nightsticks and other symbols of authority were turned into penises. I think it's pretty self explanatory.
My opinion doesn't change the score on this more than one point like anyone else's. Anyone else is free to like or dislike the ACWY entries as they please.
Sorts, heavy handed was sort of the point here. Remember - that was the part of AWCY? that took action in Occupy protests. How many not heavy handed would be revolutionaries have you seen?
I know dude, and I don't like it. Not even as a lampoon.
But I still love you guys. My unstoppable hate only goes so far as fictional art groups.
I guess I should have said it, but I was more curious about the *more* part of the "more heavy handed bullshit". I just completely failed to communicate that.
As I said, I was just curious about why you disliked the group so much. If you'd rather not say, or go into it I won't pester you further about it. I just enjoyed the discussion spawned from Digiwizzard's post, and was hoping for similar insight from another perspective.
I like this one, not a big flashy AWCY scp, but subtle, and it's good. you need to change those 'moths' to months.
There are some minor tone issues, and I think it could be trimmed down a bit, but it's compelling. I'm not sure what I just read but it got me thinking. +1
Any specific suggestions as to tone? (And, yeah, I know it's a bit long… and this is after a bunch of cutting.)
with ceilings at least 15m in height.
Just say 15m. Or better yet roll that dimension in with the width and height.
To prevent the spread of SCP-1803-1 beyond SCP-1803, cables suspending SCP-1803 should be no greater than 15mm in diameter and should be spaced no closer than 0.5m together at their anchor points.
Remove "To prevent the spread of SCP-1803-1 beyond SCP-1803". The containment procedures don't need to explain the "why" for anything they specify. The reader should be able to deduce the "why" while reading the description. You want the reader to think "Why the hell is that necessary?" and then later think "Oooohhhh…now I see." For instance, you get it right here: "Absolutely no SCP decommissioning is to take place within a 10km radius of SCP-1803."
I like AWCY, but I always thought an article displaying one of their projects backfiring would be interesting. Good job.
Beyond not being in the chosen place, it seems to have worked pretty well for them.
I think this is exactly how do you a supernatural art philosophical terrorist group. +1
