The words "The Factory" are embossed on to the bottom of all instances of SCP-1317.
But it's not on the items shown in the picture.
I actually really like the article, it just feels that the Factory link is entirely tacked on.

Still don't like it, being an object what kills ya in anomalous way, but at least it isn't offensively bad.
False. This is very useful short-term. If someone has a giant gaping hole in their liver and needs a transplant, then using this is a fantastic solution. It works when it needs to and is taken out of the body surgically before the negative effects can take place.

I believe I said it when this was sandboxed, but this reminds me too much of Clayface's origin story from Batman: TAS.
That is what I initially thought, too, but it went into a completely different "good thing goes bad" direction… and it gets more points for being something mysteriously popping up and potentially affecting lots of people, rather than just having had uniquely affected one guy and then disappearing forever (aside from Clayface and his antics, of course, but then, he wasn't really infectious).
I'm reminded of a rather unfortunate series of cases back in the 1950s. For a brief period, radioactive materials were used as makeup and face cleansers. They were thought to be healthier because the radioactivity would 'burn away the extra dirt' clogging the pores. The results were… messy.

It was a part of a documentary I caught on television a long while back. I cannot even recall the name. However, I do remember a few figures mentioned.
Eben Byers was a golfer whose jaw decayed and eventually fell off due to overexposure to radium. The autopsy revealed holes in his brain and skull.
There were also the Radium Girls who worked in a luminous paint factory. They were told that the paint was harmless and even offered experimental face paints to bring home. Many of them developed tumors, necrosis and other issues as a consequence.
Neither of those are the right time period but you can find advertisements on youtube and the like through a quick Google search. I would also suggest looking at the company Tho-Radia.

I would be careful with that. The Radium Girls case is really tragic and firmly rooted in reality.
"An estimated 4,000 workers were hired by corporations in the U.S. and Canada to paint watch faces with radium. They mixed glue, water and radium powder, and then used camel hair brushes to apply the glowing paint onto dials. The then-current rate of pay, for painting 250 dials a day, was about a penny and a half per dial ($0.27 per dial in today's terms). The brushes would lose shape after a few strokes, so the U.S. Radium supervisors encouraged their workers to point the brushes with their lips, or use their tongues to keep them sharp. For fun, the Radium Girls painted their nails, teeth and faces with the deadly paint produced at the factory. Many of the workers became sick. It is unknown how many died from exposure to radiation."
What happened was an awful catastrophe. Although the women eventually got some form of compensation, they were physically, mental and emotionally destroyed by the incident.
I'm not going to say don't do it. However, I don't think you can come up with any supernatural or anomalous element that's actually more horrifying than the actual facts of the case.

It awfully reminds me of when a guy tried to make "krokodil" - the heroin substitute, a disinformation procedure for a flesh-eating disease. It wasn't bad, but the actual thing, people doing it to themselves of their own will is just so much worse, and as such it was a flop.
When SCP-1317 comes into contact with living animal tissue, it will begin to integrate itself into the tissue. Continuous application of SCP-1317 will lead to the affected tissues being completely replaced by SCP-1317. In addition, SCP-1317 will replicate the biological function of all tissues it replaces. If the user does not continuously apply SCP-1317, the affected tissue will lose its cohesion over the next five weeks, which leads to the user experiencing fatal trauma.
Why would it always lead to fatal trauma, regardless of the area the makeup is applied to?
If you have been applying it for weeks, all up and down your arms, legs, body, and face, you will die. If you put a little on sometimes and dont really use it, you will not die. Its not insta-death for using it at all. That would be silly.

Could mention that 'The Factory' is written on the inside of the lid?
It's 1943 and there's a war on, so your lucky if you can get a luxury item like cosmetics. But I still think anyone would stop using this stuff at week 1, when they start to develop a rash. It's not a big leap of logic to determine that the rash on your face is form that new foundation you've been using. Even the ones who keep going would stop when their hair fell out.
Basically, I don't find this as appaling as it shoudl be because no one is stupid enough to keep using it into the later, truly traumatic stages.
The rash only develops if you stop using it. That's why they are withdrawal symptoms, and not symptoms of simply using the makeup.
