I like it, but it's not my favorite of yours. The cultists is centuries, maybe millennia old, gathering all of the knowledge and wisdom of dozens of lifetimes of experience, and it still has the mindset of a Bond villain. "Oh, you wily British bastards, you may have stopped my evil plans this time, but you will not stop me for long! Let me explain in detail why I am an inhuman freak of biology and theology, and detail for you approximately what I had planned on doing! Let me do this repeatedly, in every new iteration of my existence, until somebody inevitably connects all of the dots together and learns how to contain me! (evil laughter)"

I do like it, though not enough for an upvote. It just seems really first-season X-Files to me.

Actually, there was an episode of 7 Days (or how it was called in english - a series about an agent with limited-temporal displacement machine sent to the past after major fuckups) where there was an insane murderer who did exactly this.
Still I rather like it.

I wasn't familiar with that SCP before I wrote this one, but I imagine that the state induced by sticking them in there would be close enough to brain death that it would induce transmission to a new baby.

It says in the article that cognition continues, so I think this would work, except for putting two SCPs together.

This reminds me of a recent Beavis and Butthead cartoon where a cult thought Beavis was their reincarnated leader. :-)

It was well written and interesting, so it got a +1 from me, but I do feel it might be better contained in a place with no newborns for 500 kilometers (just stick in in some desert or arctic tundra facility), and therefore Euclid might have been enough. It's still very good anyway.

The difficulty there is that the newborn baby has to be born at pretty much the exact same time as the current host dies, and that would be pretty complicated for the Foundation to completely control - we'd have to keep ready-to-pop women hostage constantly and regulate air/naval traffic through wherever the isolated containment region would be. That's what I was alluding to at the end with the request from Dr. Samesh - he'd like to implement something like that, but the Ethics Committee isn't quite comfortable with the logistics of putting it into operation.

We don't know what happens if there's no newborn available at time of death - maybe it dies permanently, maybe it takes over an adult body, maybe something even worse - and considering how dangerous this person can be outside containment, we don't want to find out.

It seems to me to not be beyond reasonable to find a place where only a small amount of newborns would be available for reincarnation. Regardless, I love the concept.

SCP-1790 is to be blindfolded at all times, and fitted with vocal restraints whenever it is outside its cell,

SCP-1790's persuasive abilities are maximized when it is able to converse with another person face-to-face; covering SCP-1790's eyes,

I don't see why she needs to be blindfolded while inside her containment cell, unless it's the difficulty of getting a blindfold on her without making eye contact. And if she was blindfolded while in her cell, she could take it off unless her hands were bound behind her back, or unless it was a specially made blindfold with connected parts that locked around the neck and back of the head.

i know it’s been literally 10 years but… the blindfold could also help ensure she can’t keep herself apprised of the exact conditions of her containment

Very cool. I like that it's persuasive powers are entirely natural; it just knows people because it's been around that long.

I'm not up on Latin much, so I just wanted to quip that "Antipas" is really close to "Antipasto" and I can't help but laugh at this. The presentation of the procedure is up there with 110-Montauk, though, don't get me wrong.

"Antipas" is a reference to Herod Antipas, whose father supposedly did some very naughty things to babies once. I was thinking about adding a description of the procedure in the addendum, but i'll leave it as is for now.
