In all honesty, yes, this is silly. I wrote this a few months ago when it occurred to me that there wasn't a lot of stuff on the mainsite explaining how/why joke SCPs exist in-universe (if they do). My headcanon is that in-universe, researchers write those things up for fun, and so each lab/department has their own set of inside jokes because according to my research that's how nerds make friends.
ETA: all images are CC-compliant since I took them with my phone. I saw a couple roaches last summer.
