This was a tale created for the 2017 Christmas Art Exchange for Taffeta. The prompt was as follows:
Gifts I would like to receive: Tales! I want tales! Preferably about my pet character Dr. Adileh Khayyam, though a tale in the Third Law universe would also be much appreciated. If you're not up for either of these, I'd like a tale featuring one (or more) of my established characters and some new Foundationverse characters you've come up with.
According to Taffeta's author page, Dr. Adileh Khayyam is an anomalous humanoids (Ana Hums as I call it here) specialist. In my usual character driven fashion, I wanted to show a series of vignettes as to the bad and the good of what is surely one of the more challenging positions in the Foundation, as well as some of the mental gymnastics someone in such a position may undergo to keep from crashing, and burning out.
