It's well written for sure but I'm a little 'drained' with all the insect/insect-like critters that build or break down complex structures.

No vote for now.

P.S. - Smapti, what ever it is you're doing to churn out these great articles is definitely working.

I had the idea for this article tonight after reading another new insect SCP that was of the same "It crawls inside your body and turns you into a body horror so it can reproduce" vein that keeps popping up. I wanted to prove you could write an article about an anomalous insect that doesn't kill you horribly and doesn't use human bodies for its reproductive cycle, and I think i've succeeded.

That is exactly what I thought upon reading this. This is very well written, though, so I don't feel that it's worthy of a downvote, but it really does feel too much like a crossbreed of those other two SCPs for me to feel comfortable upvoting.

I wrote 831 and thought this looked familiar. Haven't read closely yet, so no vote yet.

I read it again, and I think there's room for this and 831. The technical writing is well done here.

The carrying capacity of SCP-1942 workers is well in excess of typical P. occidentalis capacity; a single worker has been observed to be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 0.4 kg without injuring itself. Larger groups of SCP-1942 have demonstrated an ability to lift objects weighing several hundred kilograms. The mandibles of SCP-1942 workers are also significantly more powerful than is typical of their species; swarms of SCP-1942 working in unison have demonstrated an ability to cut through stainless steel with a precision impossible to humans without computer-operated tools.

seems unnecessary. being superintelligent ants on a mission is enough, they don't need to also be super strong and impossibly precise.

In the real world, a single ant can carry about 0.2 grams at most. To lift even a single kilogram would require 5,000 ants, which would necessarily limit the colony's ability to construct massive machines. Thus I felt it necessary to give them a strength buff to explain their ability to do so.

That's pretty much where I was going. The Foundation's thoughts at this time are something like "Let's see where they're going with this". If the ants leave the planet on their own it would certainly solve the short-term issue of keeping them from causing trouble with society, but it raises questions about where they're going, why they want to leave Earth, and what they plan to do when they get there.

I appreciate the reference to Phase IV.

I first wanted to question why anyone was even considering giving the super-intelligent ant colony sophisticated materials, but there's just enough mystery to let it slide. Why are the ants launching something? Is there some high-level cooperation going on between the Foundation and the SCP? Is there an agreement for the SCP to leave for other planets as a more economical means of "containment"?

Apparently it's been covered before, but this one gets my vote. Nice work.
