A quick one I came up with today, based on my favorite GoI.
As a musician, the idea of being unable to hear music is creepy enough, but this whole SCP was *ahem* music to my ears. +1
Only one thing though - I think specifically naming the manufacturer of the tape as TDK would be more realistic than the 'of the type widely manufactured in the 1980s', but that may very well just be me.
God dammit, now I have to go write that rap music SCP.
It was awesome, then AWCY made an appearance and it was more awesomerer.
This is well-executed but … I don't like it and I can't really articulate why. Maybe it's that in my head, AWCY uses anomalous art to naively "bust people out of their frame of reference, maaaan" and the damage they do is a side effect. This just seems malicious.
No vote, but don't take it personally.
Well, most of the AWCY things *are* malicious… A piece of modern art that makes modern civilization LITERALLY crumble to dust and the people [DATA EXPUNGED] horribly… A shark that isn't actually there but still attacks people and causes people to be more freaked out than normal.. The painting that traumatizes people through the sheer horribleness of its images.. Those statues…
I should point out, the antishark doesn't have any anomalous panic-causing properties. The panic during which five people were killed was the completely normal and understandable result of an invisible, intangible shark killing people gorily in a crowded indoor swimming pool.
I share your image of AWCY and their perspective-shifting emphasis. But I think that this fits with that theme perfectly. Consider the addendum test subject. He did not consider rap to be music, now he can either listen to rap or have no music at all. That seems like it is directly targeting people with a closed-minded and set definition of what art (music) is, a demographic that AWCY would defintely want to focus on.
I'm not really into music, but that was excellent explanation of idea behind this SCP. +1.
Personally I think "The Day the Music Died" would be a better name for this SCP.
Also my headcanon says that the D-Class guy who could still hear rap music was a KKK member.
Yeah, that is a better name
I actually believe that AWCY the group has nothing to do with this at all. It's just saying their name because.
I do sort of question that final note. I'm having a knee-jerk "DAT'S RACIST" reaction, but that may just be me. Granted, you could get the same effect with, say, death metal or sound collage and the right listener.

Normally, I would agree with you there, but all the other statements are, AFAIK, from song lyrics.
if your reading this your gay
What if TL333s is right? What if "Are we cool yet?" is from a song too? From a song that AWCY? members wrote. The song that does something anomalous. And the Foundation doesn't even know it exists yet.
And 1433 was actually created by benign aliens to save people from Music Plague inadvertently caused by AWCY? and in the end only those exposed to 1433 will survive.
Alright, maybe not.
After some Googling, I actually found a song called "Are We Cool Yet?"
Appropriately enough for the purposes of this article, it's a rap song.

I kind of hate that this isn't noted anywhere in the article. It is both something the Foundation would notice and something it would consider worth mentioning.
