Very cool, and highly original. +1
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
I may have skipped over something major in the article here by accident, but is SCP-1450 really the type of anomalous the foundation would go after? I mean nothing besides being unidentified is really THAT out of the norm, even then, it could just be near extinction or something, a lot of the traits of it can be found in real life animals, In fact something very similar to this has probably existed somewhere in the universe in reality.
But I'm just being picky here, the idea is odd and creepy enough for that nit-picky problem to not ruin my enjoyment of the article, this gets a +1 in my metaphorical book.
I feel it's justified in being an SCP for several reasons:
A. It can eat and shit latex paint. That's theoretically something that could be evolved, but consider we only started using latex paints in the last few decades…
B. It hunts people. It's specifically designed to inhabit urban areas and hunt humans. There's a word for that: Bloody dangerous. It's two words, and now my colon is clenching a little because there's a lot of abandoned buildings around here. (What have I done?)
C. It's got no identifiable genus. That means there's nothing to tie it to the rest of the naturally evolved species on earth. This thing appears to have just POPPED into existence.
Given all that, I feel like the foundation would be justifiably paranoid enough to start burning it out of existence while studying a small sample.
Nice work. Welcome back, Harley.

I was staring at that picture for so long looking for the thing before I finished reading the description. I was all… is it the cabinet? Is this a cabinet bug?
Then I realized… they got me.
Upvoted at pretty much the exact same moment as Sorts just described.
The picture is absolutely marvelous once you get into the description.
You know what would be awesome? Making that into a gif that very slowly changes colors.

SCP-1450 is a colony of insects of unknown genus and species.
I think the document should say the lowest level taxonomic group of the insect which is known. Insects are a class. After class come order, family, genus, and species. So if it's of a known family name the family. On the other hand, if even its order is unknown, say that.
…I…probably should have checked taxonomy before I posted. CHANGED!
There are a couple of tonal issues, like "voracious" appetite, but I'm inclined to agree that this is a very good concept, executed well.
The fact that I've just spent a weekend painting helps, too. Now I can smell them…

I am a little curious as to why this is Safe and not Euclid… it hunts people, and could exist anywhere, so full containment would be extremely difficult if not impossible…
I do like it though~
It's a bit redundant to name all the classifications that it doesn't have. If it doesn't have a genus, it doesn't have a species, and so on.
