Harken, she can't leave you alone for a minute without something blowing up. Upvoted.
Mental note: When selecting a rival, try not to pick one who can cause massive, sudden property damage.
as an aside, Boomer died in the first revision of this…but it felt like too quick an end to the crazy bastard. Clef helped a lot with that…we'll see if we can't at least set the stage for the next act soon…
does this take place before or after Point in Line?
+1. wish I had 9k more upvotes to give. read it three times already…still jonesing for more Game Day. One question though: did you mean target confimation, or am I not getting the meaning of target conformation?
Bugger. Fixed…for all my odd talents, i can't spell-check or proofread worth a damn.
Glad you dug it so much as well, hopefully have some more up soon…it's been a little nuts lately, but things are calming down, slowly. Wanting to get the third act opened up before too long…
As an aside (doodled this a few months ago, but what the hell, studying for an exam demands tributes in procrastination) this is what my mental image of boomer is like
That's actually pretty good. In my head, he normally has some kind of greasy, ratty jeans on, and projects a general aura of someone who REALLY needs to be under professional care. At heart, he's very much a child playing around…but he's also a very cruel, dangerous child.
I always get a mental image of a bigger, heavier and yet fitter, version of the Trash Can Man from "The Stand" when I read about Boomer. Doubt it's intentional, both likely just playing off the same archetype, but it works.
And yes, Harken is both badass and a complete jackass. Love it.
I keep trying to do something besides what I normally see in the "super spy" persona. Harken is, despite his various neuroses, a very basic human being. Some people develop mental twists, or some kind of way of looking at things so they can deal with The Foundation on a day to day basis. Harken has chosen being a jackass. Besides that, he's good at the whole information/sneaky shit end of things, and isn't bad with a trench-knife…other then that, he doesn't have a lot.
It just bugs me when i see the super-suave, class-A sniper, ultra badass spy/agent, or the world-weary, gritty, grim mercenary type. I guess I'm hoping to hit somewhere in the middle.
