Hello, prospective site writers! It's good to see you here!

This month's random question is: of the classical elements (fire, water, air, earth), which represents you the most, and why?

First off, a couple standard things to keep in mind as you get started towards adding your voice to the Foundation universe:

• Definitely read the How to Write an SCP Guide and the pages in the Guide Hub that are relevant to your ideas!
• Make a sandbox page for your works in progress, reference notes, inspirational snippets, and more author things!
• Get familiar with our three Writing Help Forums:
  • Questions Desk: For all your questions about the writing process!
  • Ideas and Brainstorming: For asking about concepts that you're thinking of writing up!
  • Drafts and Critiques: For reviews of your finished pieces, to see what edits need to be made to your work to make it ready for the mainlist!

If you're not sure what to talk about here, you can take a look at our How to Write an Intro/Welcome thread for ideas.

Feel free to respond to other new members if you find that your writing interests and/or plans overlap. The SCP wiki is a collaborative writing community, after all! You might even see some of the longtime writers here drop by with comments now and then. :)

Hello everyone!

I've been on and off the wiki for the past couple years. I recently decided to make an account, just in case I have any interesting ideas. In fact, I already have two SCP ideas in mind, and am currently reading up on similar ones to get a good idea of how I should write them. I'll share drafts on the forums as soon as I can.

My interests include prehistoric animals (especially dinosaurs and pterosaurs), mythology & folklore, drawing, and creative writing. If I were like any of the four classical elements, I'd have to say that I am like water because I'm the kind of person that can experience a wide range of emotions, will oftentimes go with the flow, and I tend to not move a lot during the winter.

I look forward to contributing to this community in whatever way I can!

Long time listener, first time caller. Officially full time professional writer.

SCP is an amazing space not just for the SCPs themselves, but for the Foundation that weaves them together. My favourite piece on the site is actually the introduction to the SCP ethics committee. The SCP project has an ethics committee! Someone actually looking at the D-Class system and went; "This is better than all alternatives, and we have to live with that. By my writ, I will even make actions to enforce it." And then they have to go to bed, wake up, and do it again the next day, waiting for the next time they have to write a Procedure-110 Montauk.

I've already written an SCP and associated Tale based on the ethics committee, which I haven't seen explored enough. I call it; The Foundation Eats Babies.

I've been viewing this site for a couple years now and wanted to contribute. I have love for biology (especially entomology), mythology, and some in writing although I'm no good. If I'm any element it would have to be earth. Mainly because I'm quite the grounded individual, also I'm quite stubborn.

As for classical elements, I'm probably fire, because I've been described as having an explosive personality, and someone once said that if you held onto me for too long you'd be liable to get hurt (still not sure if they were joking or if that was a compliment).

Hello one and all!

I've been a reader for over a year now (having replaced my laptop no less than 2 times in the process), and I decided that I'd like to apply my talent for writing to this very site. My grammar - according to my English teacher - is almost always perfect, and I have a gift for producing professional-quality fiction. Currently, I have quite a few ideas for SCP's, which mostly stem from concepts in a novel I'm writing.

I've loved science-fiction ever since preschool. While my classmates were pretending to be knights venturing across the land, slaying hideous beasts, and saving the land, I was creating blueprints for spaceships and robots. Now that I'm in my Junior year of high school, everyone seems to love Divergent and The Hunger Games, which I do not understand. If you ever get the chance, read Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and Neuromancer, and you'll learn what I believe is real science fiction.

In addition to my love of science-fiction, I enjoy watching classic movies, learning about any of the sciences, history, mythology, etymology, and creating art of various kinds. Plus, I enjoy helping others, so if you're ever looking for help with writing, send me a message, and I'll be sure to offer my advice.

Hello everybody my name is Doctor Flanky and i'm starting to get into writing for the SCP files and tales of the foundation. I'm currently working and improving upon my first SCP file soon to come out maybe in a few hours after this post. I was interested in the SCP readings and tales most notably SCP-049, The tale of Dr Scranton in SCP-3001 and others too many to count. Hi everybody!

The element that best represents me is probably air. Could go into whole pages of reasons (astrological, esoteric and poetic)! But they mostly boil down to: I'm mercurial and I talk a whole lot.

Been visiting the main site off and on for years, and I recently started binge-reading it since deciding to take a Twitter sabbatical. Unfortunately my pattern seems to be that I take up a new hobby with energy and enthusiasm at first, and then eventually taper off and slink away. We'll see how long I can stick it out here!

Right now my day job involves administrating the online customer support forum for a free website. I also once wrote a regular Wikipedia article, which means I have no excuse for not learning how to do proper formatting and style here. ;)

Hello everyone! Long time lurker finally signing up. My element's water, mostly because I'm so wishy-washy.

I originally found the site through a meme (non-anomalous). A phone was autocorrecting "I'm fine." to the text from "black white black white […] gray". I remember thinking, "This HAS to be a reference to something cool," and here I am!

Recently a friend I was describing SCP to asked if I was writing stuff for the site, and I realized it hadn't even occurred to me to try and contribute. I'm not much of a writer, but practice makes perfect marginally better than before, right?

Anyway, I'm excited to try to contribute and be part of this community! Thanks for reading.

If you'd like to request a co-authorship, you can do so in the Questions Desk forum. However a better place to start would be introducing your SCP concept in the Ideas and Brainstorming forum, and then asking if anyone finds the idea interesting enough to want to work with you on it.

We encourage writers on this site to do their own work, rather than relying on other people to drag them through the writing process. The best way to attract people to work closely with you is to have an idea for writing something they'll be excited to work on.

Hello Foundationers,

I visited the site several times many years ago, but just recently became very interested in the writing community you guys have here; definitely one of a kind in a world where web manners went deep down the drain a long time ago.

I found SCP through my efforts to contribute to the game; I love open-source and all types of programming, and was introduced to the shady side of the world by burning through the late night Wi-Fi on Reddit, contributing code to the Slender Man project (not sure if that's a taboo subject here since it's more cheap thrills than in-depth storytelling) and also listening, listening, and listening to WTNV (Any other listeners here?)

I've written a lot of science fiction and some fan fiction over the years, but only published some of it because, let's be honest, no one reads anything nowadays unless it's a few paragraphs or less. More's the pity.

RQ: Air because you can have all of it that you want, if you are breathing fast enough.

Regarding hobbies, I write, read, and ride my motorcycle a lot, all of which give me a chance to muse on the meaning of life and human mortality.

Here's to the flourishing of the site, the creation of even more terrors to roam the earth, and to you all who I know work hard to keep this site orderly and regulated. My thanks.

I've recently decided to start reading this again. On the bus I had an idea for an SCP so when I got back home I signed up and sent in an application. Yeah. Anyway, I enjoy Homestuck, Skyrim-like games, and art.

Hey. My favourite piece to play was Italian Folk Festival, which I played as pit orchestra. I don't have much experience with chamber groups (I used to play in an orchestra, but now I play mostly solo). The most recent game I really enjoyed was Cuphead. I highly recommend its soundtrack, it was one of the best I have heard.

I have read this site for a few months, and I love some of the ideas, I decided to join because I had an idea that made me want to join, I'm not exactly good with people when face to face but on the internet, I'm fine with people, I would say for the question of the month I am water due to how fluid and shy I am, Like a few other people I like mythology of all sorts. That may have been a slightly long sentence but this intro isn't being graded (wait is it being graded?). Anyways I can't think of anything else to put on this intro because its a first impression situation but oh well.

Hi there! My name's Miika. I was introduced to the SCP Foundation by a friend on another site. After reading a few tales and a few pages on these interesting objects and critters, I was absolutely addicted. It wasn't until a few days ago I was encouraged to make an account and write out some of my ideas. As of right now, I'm developing researching a new SCP for the site!
My plan for my time here is to contribute writing in the forms of SCPs and tales, as well as critiques, and lots of reading.
Outside of reading and writing, I am a huge nerd in the form of a gamer. I also love to watch television and movies, as I'm sure everyone does. I do riding at a local barn and my best friend is an Icelandic pony named Katie. But if there's one thing you need to remember about me, it's that I love dragons!

I'm super excited to begin my journey here, although one big worry for me is that my articles are going to fail. If anyone has any sort of advice for that anxiety, it would be greatly appreciated. I'm mostly scared that my writing style won't translate well to the style of the wiki, or that none of my SCPs will be interesting enough.

Anyways, that's enough for me. Thank you all so much for this opportunity!

For the question of the month: I identify the most with fire. I can be unpredictable but stable, dangerous but a source of comfort, and I also admire the beauty of the element.

I've stumbled upon the site a couple of years ago but I have rediscovered it last year. I'm a college student looking to finally contribute to the wiki I've grown to love. It's probably going to take a decent while until I'll produce a full article but I'm excited to interact with people in the comments for now. I haven't really mingled with writing as a hobby outside of the wiki yet but seeing how my interests include Physics, Biology and creepypastas high quality horror fiction I'm confident I'll enjoy my stay.

I was first introduced to the world of SCP after I have seen the famous video game. I was amazed by its originality of concepts, and so when I found out about the existence of this community I was extremely happy.
To be honest, I always secretly wanted to write, so when I discovered that there is an active and passionate community of writers such as this, I was very excited. I wanted to meet people that are ready to improve, create and help others to do so as well with constructive criticism.
I am very much looking forward to meeting new people and cooperate with them so that we can become better writers.

I've been reading SCP's for the past couple of years, and I thought that it would be pretty fun to start writing myself. I am fascinated by things that can be classified as space-time anomalies and such, and I really do hope to contribute new and creative ideas. I personally think that i'm like fire - I burn with a noticeable intensity, but I can't burn without fuel.

Hi, I'm Nova. I probably discovered this site around 2014, stopped reading, and then fell in love with it all over again this year and decided to make an account after I got ideas for a few SCPs. I'm a pretty big roller coaster enthusiast, so expect a lot of the stuff I write to involve amusement park rides in some capacity.

Good Evening everyone (well, it's evening where I am, otherwise good morning or good afternoon), I would like to begin by saying that I am glad to finally be a part of this site. With all due honesty, I have been lurking around for many years reading nearly a myriad of articles and tales enjoying the fantastic works that are on here. I can't honestly remember how I found the site or discovered SCP. I suppose I was just so bored one day that I stumbled upon it.

I have been an amateur writer since 8th grade; Occasionally it would be the usual 5-10 page short story, however lately, I have been working on a new project, a story/script of sorts. I am still in the middle of constructing that entire lore and I feel working on writing here attempting to create SCPs and getting criticism can really improve my method!

(I really hate the whole "bullet point" structure of introductions but, I wanted to keep this as detailed yet short and sweet as possible.)

In terms of hobbies well, I majored in Network Engineer & Security (I essentially create Virtual Machines and mess around with code and computers, frankly, I find it helps my creative flow. Whatever works right?) with hopefully a Master's in Particle Physics to soon follow (needless to say, besides the excessive amount of parentheses, I am very busy)

Let me wrap this up quickly; concerns about the site? I have none in particular, I suppose with anyone being disrespectful but, everyone comes off differently and it tends to be hard to determine the context of what someone means in a text based format, for me anyway.

I hope to start a sandbox soon and get to work, I already have an Object in mind, not some magnum opus but a great place to start for me. I will hopefully run ideas back and forth with all of you soon!

I actually came here once under a different name, about two years ago, but I was younger and dumber then. I have a broad, if not professional, knowledge of languages, mythologies, and biology(especially if it relates to the ocean or fungi), so feel free to consult me on any of those subjects. Hello. I'm gnosticprophet. About two years ago, I was also here. I was effectively the worst person I knew at that point in my life (though I didn't know it yet). Now, I am returned, with a better attitude and better writing. I also run a blag with my writing. I'm also pretty well versed in languages, biology (especially if it relates to sea life or fungi), mythology and a couple of different realms of theology. I am a moderate fan of the Twilight Zone and The X Files, so expect a hopefully tolerable amount of inspiration taken from those two pieces of media, especially the former, I hope to write some good stuff!

I would like to be a part of this foundation! I started to learn about scps and thought they were interesting and that gave me ideas of what other scps could be. So I decided to join to share my ideas and hopefully be someone important.
My Goal is to be a memorable person in this foundation from a unique character to making feared scps. Also meeting people and becoming better on the way :P.
My favorite site is site-19 and my favorite scp is 096. My hobbies are gaming, Drawing, Writing, and making youtube videos.

If I was a element I would be fire because I'm passionate about the things I do.

I found the SCP Foundation because my friend is making a game about
the SCP Subjects (so, maybe he will appears asking if he can use your
subject). And, I like this kind of things, so I decided to register!

My hobbies includes: write histories, create comics online or in
paper, solve enigmas and play video-games! So you already know,
my objective on the SCP Foundation is write and create some cool
SCP Subjects!

My only worry to writing my first SCP is because I don't speak English
as my native language, so I can write something wrong! I hope you

Hello fellow organic things, I'm a person who's been reading SCP for years now, and have finally decided to join the community. Other then writing you can expect other art stuff like illustration, theater and animation coming from me. The first two are those are more practiced then my writing thought, hopefully participating in this community will fix that. I also have great knowledge about tabletop rpgs and know little to no people who want to play the stuff I do. The element I associate with is air, because my opinions about things are roughly that vague.

Since we need to know the Staff on sight and there is a long list of them, should I just keep a tab with Meet the Staff open and check every username I come across if it's one of them?

Personally, I say nah, because staff are usually good about titling their posts accordingly. Whenever staff give directions, they'll preface the comment with the heading "Staff Post" or their title (Junior Staff/Operational Staff/Mod/Admin Post, as you see in this post).

Staff members who are not acting in official staff capacity are effectively regular users when it comes to discussion and interaction.

Hey all!
I've been lurking the SCP wiki on-and-off for a couple of years now (since 2012, at least), and recently I've had a couple of good ideas bouncing around in my head, so I figured I'd give this a shot.
Frankly, I've got no idea whether I've got what it takes to be a solid contributor, but the more articles and stories I read on this site, the more I feel this is a community I want to be a part of, and the more I want to contribute my own ideas to it.

Similar to the person posting before me, i have been lurking in this site for quite a while, unsure whether to contribute. But after having a massive skip streak (and some tales as well), i made my decision to join in. I recently thought of a concept for one Safe SCP - let's see how that turn out haha

Thanks to a post by u/modulum83 on the SCPDeclassified subreddit, I finally decided to try to write an SCP after years of lurking around the wiki. I have an idea, but I am propably going to read up on similar skips before starting to write the first draft.

My hobbies are photography and floorball. And as for the random question, I am propably water because I feel I am the opposite of fire, as I very rarely get angry or passionate about something.

Hey everyone, I'll try to keep this somewhat brief. I'm TalkingCarcass (most people just call me TC), I've been reading the wiki since about 2012. It's been a good source of inspiration and something to take my mind off things when I'm down. Recently I've gotten some skip ideas that I think could work and I haven't seen on the wiki before.

Some hobbies I have are acting, DnD, and playing games. For the RQ of the month, I don't really know how the classic elements relate to characteristics, but I'd go with water because I try to go with the flow.

Hello! I'm Lactose, of the Intolerant variety. I've known of the Foundation and their efforts to preserve humanity since 2013. I just had a few ideas and I like writing, so I figured I'd throw my hat in the ring and expand the database of knowledge on these crazy SCPs.

I like long walks on the beach, playing guitar, slaughtering the innocent and nubile, and eating massive vats of Outback Steakhouse's soy ginger sauce (seriously, I'd replace that shit with my blood if I could).

Hi,
Ever since my friend introduced me to the SCP community a couple years ago, I’ve been listening to SCP readings and reading swaths of articles on the wiki. I love editing and creative writing, but I also really enjoy drawing. I’ve been interested in writing for the wiki for a long time, but I’ve only recently read up on the writing guides enough to give it a try.

I have a SCP draft in the works and I plan on writing much more!
If I would have to choose one of those four elements, I would choose fire. It’s the element of my star sign, and I feel like it befits my enthusiasm and passion.

Hello everybody!
I'm Hankrecords. Real name's Fabio and I live in northwest Italy.

I discovered this site a couple of years ago but then forgot about it for some reason (I'm thinking low-power amnestics) and couldn't quite remember what it was, so I was glad to re-discover it through the WritingPrompts subreddit (SCP is so popular there that I had to come check it out)
Now I've been reading the site for quite some time and I absolutely love it.

I like writing and I have a few ideas on my mind and I can't wait to post them and gather feedback, although I'm a little worried because I'm not used to writing stories in English (Italian being my main language)

I enjoy playing videogames and watching movies and TV series, I like nature and travelling, and I dream of seeing as much of the world as I can in my life. Also, I really like roleplaying games, especially Warhammer Fantasy (although I don't dislike D&D).
I'm also a software programmer and love all things IT.

That was a longer post than I intended to write. Oops :D

Hello everyone, Name's Vin. I'm new here, and new to writing in general. Classical elements… I would-
have to be Earth and Water. I tend to be stable and tough like a tree rooted into the ground, and be as- calm/destructive as still body of water. Not that tree's aren't calm or anything… Oh! And I've always -wanted to write my own SCP since ah… 2012 I think? Just never really got to it.

Hello, my name is martin. I came across the SCP site the way a lot of people did through the "SCP Containment Breach" game when it released many years ago. Although I hadn't been keeping in touch for a while, I've had a newfound interest in the last few months when I came across an SCP reading for "The Broken God" on Youtube. Along with the disturbing new season of Channel Zero.

I've got plenty of ideas for SCP's I've been itching to share. I mainly wanted to start adding SCP's to gain some feedback on my writing style and see how I can improve from there.

I enjoy writing, drawing(mainly in pen), reading, and playing a lot of Civilization 5
