It's up, you guys! I did a thing! Hooray!
Would Anomalous Incidents qualify given that it was written before this but follows the theme?
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
Absolutely. Just because you are an eldritch writing demon with mysterious powers of precognition does not mean you should be excluded from the list.
Is Tattoo from the Japanese branch allowed to qualify?
Sorry for the delayed response. I can't really say whether it fits the challenge or not, but if you reckon it qualifies I'm happy to add it.
EDIT: Added.
Bugga me I saw the thread few days ago and thought "Hey, maybe I should do a thing on this."
Seems like I gotten beaten to the punch on this one.
Please Pick an item that's most likely isn't going to get pruned. Any new entries are discouraged, but you still can pick them if you want to take the risk.
I'd like to point out that if the item inspires someone to write a tale that sticks around, that's a reasonably good argument that it shouldn't be pruned. The log is locked right now for pruning, but the results of this challenge will be taken into account.
This is pretty neat! Though I have one small quibble as it stands:
Entries:
The current challenge submissions are:
Contests have entries submitted. Challenges have responses issued. Or at least I think that makes sense.. Anyhow, it seems open to misinterpretation as it's currently written.
I like that we have this hub, maintaining it starting now will make things easier if this challenge garners lots of response (already well on its way, it seems). I just wouldn't want anyone to think this is something official, or that these pieces are directly competing with each other, or that there's a deadline or any reason not to go ahead and write their own attempt.
E: Excellent! Also, I've added my tale to the list. Hard to tell with my work sometimes, but i think this'll stick.
That's a very good point, and I've edited the page to better fit that mentality.
Would it be possible to add links to the anomalous item entries corresponding with their tale?
(I know that Tjalla and Time After Time are based on the same item, and don't want to discourage any tale ideas about previously used items)
There's no way to link to individual items on the list without reformatting it
Actually, there is a way to link to a specific item on the list. I should know, I used it to create the link for Mr. JHTT. Just edit the page and place the following
[[#name]]
before the object you want to link to. Obviously, substitute "name" with whatever word you want to use. Then when you want to link to it, and "#name" to the end of the link url. For example, http://www.scp-wiki.net/log-of-anomalous-items takes you to the Log of Anomalous Items, while http://www.scp-wiki.net/log-of-anomalous-items#jhtt will take you directly to Mr. Just Has The Tattoo.
EDIT: I forgot to add, this is also used to link to specific blocks of 100 on the series pages. Maybe I should have used that as an example instead of shamelessly self-promoting.
Yep, that's the reformatting part I was talking about.
Or did you mean putting links on the AO Log page: at the featured item, linking to the related tale? Because the way a lot of these are going, the log entry is, like, the stinger at the end of the story. So that might not be a good way to transition the reader in. Kinda like linking to the setup of a joke from its punchline.
A link from the AO Log to this hub though, that might be something to consider.
Added my new tale, The Scarlet Shadow Saves The World, to this list.
