Why on earth would Prometheus make this? They generally only make things that seemed like a good way to help people. How could this be remotely justified?
This is mildly interesting, if somewhat random. I don't see why this is Prometheus Labs, though; they (generally speaking) do research applications. Given that the tarsier eats the meat left behind after a critter gets killed by its herd/pack/whatever, this seems more like it would be an evolutionary adaptation dealie rather than an engineered effect. Especially since I can't think of a single research/commercial application for a "blood-frenzy" chemical.

Okay, removed the Prometheus Labs reference. My thinking was that the reader would see this and be confused as to why Prometheus would build it, but assume that they had something a little darker in mind than usual. Besides, I just don't feel Prometheus gets enough love.
Gone now, though.
that was my primary objection. vote reversed. i like the idea of this well enough, just that connection made no kind of sense.
the factory makes useful yet dangerous paranormal objects with possible sinister intentions behind them
wondertainment makes strange and highly disturbing objects, seemingly with the intent to entertain or amaze
alexylva university has products that they consider normal and practical that often go against our ethics and understanding of the world
prometheus tries to make good and useful products that just happen to break some natural laws and have the potential to go horribly awry. throwing a darker side onto them feels iffy.
Upvoted because I love the idea of an adorable creature that forces other creatures to do all the killing for it.
There's nothing about this which makes me want to downvote, but nothing really warranting an upvote either. Just thoroughly meh.
While I gotta agree it's kinda on the bland side, it's also a tarsier, and tarsiers are freaky all on their own, so that had me biased in its favour right off the bat. You've got an interesting, terrifying hook here and a good solid wrapper-upper in the recovery story (the way it so offhandedly implied that it caused a couple to murder their own child was a real punch in the gut that I feel ends off the article on a very nicely chilling note), but the beginning/middle could use a little bit of creeping up. Nothing blatant, just some subtle hints in there to get a bit of an implication in there earlier, if that makes sense.
Final conclusion: Upvoted, but it could be better.

This plus pretty much everything else Pig said.
Seems like a bland "Things what make you go nuts for no apparent reason." Downvote.
