So this is an idea I got a few nights ago, and decided to take a crack at. Probably not the most ground breaking article in the world, but hey, I think its cool, and it opens the door for a lot of potential tales/expansion. Also my first time writing a Thaumiel

This a short but sweet read, with a clever exploitation of an otherwise simple anomaly to make it very cool. The information on it's discovery was also pretty interesting and has some nice implications.

I also found the description clunky and confusing, and didn't really understand it until the first log. I actually STILL don't understand what the needles measure on their own, if you just leave them and watch. Then, the logs were generally repetitive, until the last one, where it almost seemed like a narrative "solution in search of a problem," so to speak. I guess what I'm trying to say there is that while I could see the potential in how it -could- be used, the document didn't organically get me to care. Maybe if you had delved deeper into the person trying to keep their stalker/ex away… or gone into why it was created (maybe a guy trying to create a run-in with some girl), or made it a bit more interesting on its own, I could upvote in good faith.

Since the needles don't work on the deceased, they would snap back to neutral position.

This feels way too dangerous for the Foundation to test so extensively. It caused a Site to catch fire in order to fulfil its command, so the risk of malevolent genie action seems too high – especially when you consider that there's no apparent limit to this object's powers.

I'd also echo the gist of Abettik's comment, although perhaps not its coarseness.

Logs have been altered, containment procedures tweaked, incident log added, and minor details changed here and there.

The testing log was more of a compelling and engaging read that it has any right to be. With that said, the CI plotline seemed poorly foreshadowed, and even though it's obviously the "twist" of the SCP, I still don't quite get the ramifications of the incident, and I feel like the article can be restructured to make it more obvious.

With respect to your comments RE: The CI plotline and its ramifications.

Basically, the SCP Foundation used this thing like mad shortly after its discovery since it was a very useful device for tracking down PoIs and seemed like it was low risk. However, by having several MTF agents bonded to several CI agents via SCP-3460, they may have inadvertently caused a massive CI raid on their own facility via the devices probabilities altering abilities. This caused them to reel in their use of the device, requiring O5 approval, and large amounts of down time between uses. In short, SCP has a super useful device, overuse it, and have it bite them in the ass in a bad way.

My plan was to foreshadow this with the initial update to the containment procedures, and then hint that things were heading towards catastrophe with the final entry of the test log, though I can see why that might be a little weak sauce.
