New SCP. And my first.
This is somewhat interesting. What happens if they try to leave the campus or otherwise not pursue a degree? I don't like the random deaths bit, that seems a bit tacked on to make this less desirable. It almost works, actually.
I spent some time thinking about that. I eventually decided to give them no memory of anything not directly related to their degree, but I still think that it was kind of a cop-out. The deaths were in fact tacked on to make it less desirable. The whole idea is that something bad happened at the university during those four years. But I had trouble thinking of what and some research didn't help, so I just stuck a [DATA EXPUNGED] on there.
Personally, I think I would prefer the SCP without the random deaths and injuries. It seems the losing 4 years is really enough to counterweight the potential advantages gained.
Not all SCPs have to be unnecessarily harmful- just look at Mr. Deeds, or 914.
I think it's justified. It suggests that this thing is simulating the entire 4 years, including any of the hazards that would be involved along the way.
This is a rad SCP. The "knowledge of super-computers consistent with the year 19██" thing cracked me up, and the rest of the addendum's examples explain the effects/possibilities well. Nice work.
It reminds me of [REDACTED] University. It's rather interesting though, albeit the random injuries/deaths doesn't much help.
Living the dream, or dreaming the life?
Reminds me of SCP-028 a lot, but the feel's definitely unique enough to work on its own. Nice job for a first, but I'm with Soulless - injuries/squick usually isn't added unless it's critical to the SCP itself. I know this SCP draws from that aspect as a bit of a "Monkey Paw Logic," but it'd probably be okay to tone it down just a bit.
The sections describing what the Ds were imprisoned for are completely irrelevant as far as I can tell. Get rid of them.
Additionally, "left chest" = "left pectoral".
Though I may be misinterpreting, I'm a bit tickled by the idea that, following a 4 year study of memetics, the guy was unwilling to so much as speak with anyone else. But then, that might be the only reasonable reaction…
while I very much like this, I have one mild note to make, im not sure how you could fix this but when I first read this i mistook ████ ███ University for the Group of Interest known as "████████ University" or is it just me?
Yeah, I pretty much would have upvoted for the number alone, but I like this on its own merits. And I imagined this University being more like a British school/college from the 70s instead of what I've been writing about, so it stands on its own.
