Thanks to Copernicus (who is available for weddings, funerals and barmitzvahs etc.) for the photoshop and to Salman for some great input!
Yeah, Copernicus does gold fish and gefilte fish.
SCP-929's face and cranium will split and open outwards. A number of tendrils that appear to be similar in composition to imitated organs will emerge from within the created gap.
My brain is now shouting "THIS IS SOMEWHAT SIMILAR TO JOHN CARPENTER'S THE THING"
As is the imitation aspect, though The Thing didn't try to pretend it was someone's kid. It was more into identity theft. Also infection.
Still, it's not excessively similar, so upvoted regardless.
I like this quite a bit. However, this has both a major plot hole and a major missed opportunity.
it possesses the ability to rapidly change its appearance and biology to match those of any other species.
Wouldn't this have manifested as the child of one of the researchers at some point? Meaning you end up with human children with split-open faces and tendrils, getting help from a trained Foundation researcher? This seems terrifying. (I like the idea of children as SCPs a lot.)
Upvoted for the fridge logic that it has totally turned into murderous children with splitting-open heads.
…what is it about the phrase "psychic influence", or a variant thereof, that makes me twitch and reach for the downvote button?
It must be… psychic influence!
Downvoted! Consider yourself slated for deletion.
SCP-929 will always take the form of a younger member of the organisms species and will remain in this form until either the 'parent' organism is killed or hostilities are engaged against SCP-929.
After hostiles are killed or otherwise removed, SCP-929 will seek out a new 'parent' organism.
What if the parent wasn't killed during the hostilities? Would SCP-929 still attach to a new one? If so, what happens to the old one?
Upvoted solely for the detached, off-hand way they mention this thing is completely capable of taking human form.
Also, real-life cuckoo birds give me the willies. (They instinctively murder their "siblings"! D:)
The way the effect is described here is kinda dull. Some examples of how it transforms would breath life into the article, maybe in the form of a more in-depth containment breach addendum. Picture is pretty cool though.
Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you!
Original image found here by Charlene Ovando. Faminepulse, you're really good with photoshop, I couldn't even tell it was altered til I looked it up.
Ah… that was the idea at the time. Anyway, yeah, we gotta attrib even with modifications from now on. My bad.
*teehee*
