Last night I challenged everyone in chat to write an scp, no sandbox, no pastebin, no testing the waters to see how it works. Succeed or fail, great article or cliche piece of shit, the idea is just to get one out. This is mine.

Huh. This is kind of a neat challenge.
Now, off to read the article.
Not sure where to post this but there's an error with the rating system where its jumping numbers for me. Pm me for more info. Only seen it on this page so far.

It's a ticking box that makes you paranoid. This reads a lot like SCP-014-J now that I think about it.
There are other ways to determine what's in the box than opening it, since opening it is impossible for no apparent reason. Ultrasonic imaging is one option. There's probably others.
Hmm… Could be that those attempts just make viewers more and more frantic? They might not "see" anything, and that makes it worse?
"WELL FOUNDATION. YOU MADE IT SO EASY. SO VERY VERY EASY." - dimensionpotato
Then it's just another thing that makes you crazy.
What's inside! I wonder if there is any other articles or stories regarding this scp if anyone knows then please respond I must know what's inside that box!!
From something else you wrote, I thought that was how you wrote most of your articles, actually - straight in to the Wiki.
It reminds me FAR too much of SCP-988…

…and I just got it, you elegant bastard.
What did you get, precisely?
They're certainly similar. It's like reading the same article twice.
Anyone who becomes aware of SCP-902, whether through personal interaction, or by reading this report, becomes convinced that whatever is in the box is horribly dangerous, and needs to be destroyed as soon as it finishes counting down.
Everytime you down vote it, you're playing into his hands!
Hm. I can't decide if I like this one. I find myself wanting to upvote it because I like the challenge constraints it was written under. But it doesn't really grab me. Neutral vote for now.
I think I'd like it more if it could be opened, and shown to be empty—but people still heard the ticking, were still convinced it had something in it. Cue someone frantically opening and closing the box, over and over and over again…
I like that idea Mann. do you think you could edit it in?

This feels like a combination of the error locket and the unopenable box, without the elaboration that made either good. The effect that makes people think it's dangerous is pretty cool, but it's not nearly enough to carry the article. With a rewrite, this could be interesting, although I'm not sure if that would be in your parameters.
if your reading this your gay
I'm up for a rewrite. I just wanted to get the idea out there.

Bright, you magnificent bastard!
I don't know what to vote now…
The bit at the end did it for me.
if your reading this your gay
I have to agree, the last sentence really makes this work.
and, from -8 to +8. Thank you Mann.
