Religious indoctrination. Get 'em young.
And further reason why the Church is my favorite organization.
An amazing story. Personally, my favorite bit is when the Foundation agent spoke. To have that much reserve and courage for a child you've never met before, in the face of your own death, really adds a level of character to some of the faceless Foundation personnel.
Although there is the Church of the Broken God, Marshall Carter & Dark, and various other organizations out there, we can't forget that the Foundation is extremely powerful, if not more so. I would like to see more stories like this, where unnamed Foundation personnel get their characters flesh out a bit.
Really reminds you that, while the Foundation may not consist of the nicest blokes out there, they are still a damn sight better than the alternative
those who looked up after the opening prayer killed.
Is there something wrong with this sentence, or is it just me? Were the members killed, or were they forced to kill?

Not tagged "broken-god"?
Certain tags were removed from Tales a while ago and are currently being re-added (in this instance, the 'church' tag was removed entirely from all pages, and only later replaced with 'broken-god'). It's now tagged properly.
