I'd say.. Fix it up a bit and re-classify as SAFE.
Hmm, I like it.
I don't too much like the explanations, but the article itself is awesome.
A possible explanation could be Novikov selfconsistency principle or some variant thereof - probability of an event that would lead to a temporal paradox is 0
To be honest, I'd actually love this a lot more if it was just like:
SCP-988 is an unopenable wooden chest. Movement of SCP-988 suggests that there is an object inside it. All attempts at opening including mechanical SCP-988, including mechanical, are stopped by seemingly random events. Imaging of SCP-988's interior shows [DATA EXPUNGED]
And then classifying it was Keter. Okay, maybe that would be a little too lazy.
Still, I upvoted. Remember though, brevity can be your friend. You are unnecessarily detailed about the object, which contrasts from the simple concept of it.
If it were classified as Keter I think it would be too reminiscent of SCP-055, where it could be something very dangerous but we have no idea of knowing for sure. Classifying it as safe piques the curiosity.
I think it would be interesting if there were a list of events that occurred with SCP-988's previous owners. Something that hints at why the Foundation is even bothering with it, or even had their attention drawn to the box at all.
It's unopenable because it's a probability-manipulator?
Sounds good, just not sure how original it is. Are there any other Unopenable Boxes on the site?
There was an unopenable maguffin proposed for SCP-001, but that's the only one that springs to mind.
I'm sure there's a few others that only open when certain circumstances have been fulfilled.
There's that one Keter from the future. I don't remember which one it is.
SCP-699 can't be opened.
This one won't be opened. And that actually bothers me more…
I don't know what to say. It's a box that won't let itself be opened. It's a simple idea, something weird but not really dangerous…
Yeah, it's awesome. Upvoted.
I'm not really sure what to think of this one, other than "sapient pearwood"
…in which case, you don't want to open it. You really, really don't.
