This thing has been sitting in my sandbox, almost finished, for the better part of three years. It eventually reached a point where most of my critique was starting to be about the same few things, which I fixed to the best of my ability. I had to get this thing out there, or I'd never be able to feel calm again.
Thanks to Petrograd in the forum and Modern_Erasmus in chat for recent critique, VAElynx and Kalinin in the forum and thekillerax in the chat for three years ago. I'd check how to mention your profiles but I'm too anxious to look it up right now.
I actually wrote up the exact thing the woman said, but most of my recent critique said it didn't add much and could be folded into the last two interview logs. I did that, but I still liked it enough that I'm compelled to post it here.
Häyhä wanted me to "let them know". I presume he meant all of you. I might as well tell you the same thing I told Häyhä.
I give people what they ask. I offer them what they deserve.
Simo Häyhä is the name of the man who shot you. He wanted to protect his country, so I helped him. You wanted to take what didn't belong to you, so he stopped you.
I offered you my Hell, and you accepted because you deserved it. It doesn't matter that you didn't know at the time. You've got plenty of time to think about it now.
I offered Häyhä my Heaven, and he refused the reward he deserved. Instead, he asked for oblivion.
I gave him what he asked. I think he felt it was what he deserved.
Enjoy your sleep Häyhä. Death will not bother you as I watch.
Nor will it bother all of you. But you don't get to sleep. You don't deserve oblivion.
You deserve less than nothing. You deserve everything.
