Shepard is the commander. Shepherd is the flock tender. Know the difference. It could save your life.

Areas, Sites, etc. are always capitalized. Generally a hyphen between the designation and number, but that's kinda sporadically used.
That aside, I'm iffy on the "highly resistant to damage". Especially to explosives underwater. Water is dense, can't be compressed very easily, and so transmits shock waves far more effectively than air. Even if chunks aren't being blown out, you're probably causing massive internal hemorrhaging. Explosives aside, there are other alternatives.
If I were a researcher, I would allow a specimen on land. Only one. I'd evacuate the landing zone beforehand, and I would have heavy weapons to the tune of missile systems, gunships, and tanks or anti-tank vehicles ready at a safe standoff distance to pummel the ever-living fuck out of one of these things using armor-penetrating munitions once it's too far ashore to make a hasty retreat. Then I would dissect it and figure out what makes it tick, and there would be science. But this is just me.
…I've forgotten what else I was going to say. Apologies.
