From Guide To Newbies:
Don't post works in progress on the forums
I did read that, but seeing as any time I've posted in the chat I get ignored (the Guide to Newbies also says don't spam the chat) I figured I'd give it a shot here. It can be deleted/locked if you find it the best path to pursue. Also, as I read that rule it comes out to "Not posting works in progress on the forums" so that the most recently edited page isn't clogged with "Ok guys, just changed this in my work, how is it now?" (Which was why the sandbox pages were removed from the main site in the first place). I don't intend to do any of that, I just want feedback on what I have right now and will only edit it in my sandbox and not post here repeatedly. So, as I see it, this is no better or worse than posting a general idea. Of course, I'm still fairly new here, so I will defer to the higher ups judgement.
I dunno… it sounds a bit… boring, no? Yeah, I'm aware that a mother forgetting all about their child would be something pretty horrible, and I guess it could be a good story, or perhaps an entry in the "Log of Extranormal Events", but as a SCP, I find it somewhat lacking… this is the kind of thing that I think would need a more emotional writting to be able to affect people. The clinic tone SCPs require would only make me read this, think "meh" and search for another.
Ah, and, what Leicontis said. I'd recommend creating a page in the SCP Sandbox and writing your ideas there.
I do have a sandbox. Also, I forgot to mention I intend to eventually add an experiment log to the end, if that helps with the emotional relations aspect.
Well, maybe an experiment log could indeed make it work better… but I dunno, it could feel a bit forced. Some SCPs do require logs to make them more interesting (like 294), but others simply don't, because their effects are fixed, predictable, and experiment logs would be redundant as the main article already tells all there is to know about the SCP.
Maybe an interview log with an affected mother and child would be a better idea.
