I believe it's ready to post, but I wanted to run it through here first just to be sure. Essentially it's a mechanical computer that predicts things far beyond what should be possible.

I like it. You took the believed function of the original artifact, and turned it up to 11. I'm not sure about the "unknown languages and calendars" bit, since that's already been used a fair bit, but I'd leave it in for now pending input from more senior members. Predicting the supernova was a nice touch. I'd un-redact part of the date that the machine can't go past, to make it clearer that it's some time in the future, and drive home the "something special and probably horrible is going to happen then" aspect.

Would definitely upvote if posted.

There's one or two sentences I might change so the article flows more smoothly, but on the whole I like it.
