Got an idea: Fog Jar?

I have an idea (mostly typed up in the sandbox) for a jar or some other vessel that basically floods an area with mist, making everything cold and damp. And, since that by itself isn't really thriller material, I added in an idea for a fog-based monster that sucks the heat out of anything it touches. Is what I have good? If not, why not? If yes, what more can I add to it?

I like it so far.

However, the part about it's origin is not clear - wouldn't Dr. Morris have encountered resistance from Insurgency staff? Maybe it was abandoned by the CI, and the artifact had been knocked over afterwards.

What happens when you open it in an open area? Like a plain field? It can't really "fill" the place with fog. Will it just continually emanate mist until closed?
Also, seeing as it can be contained without trouble (as in, if left alone, it won't really do anything), I'm guessing it'd be classified as "safe", not "euclid".

@Enma Ai: I think what you'd get is an place that was inexplicably cold, damp, and misty compared to the surrounding environment. A lot would depend on WHERE the open area was, naturally; open this jar up in the arctic, and the effects would be negligible because it's already cold, wet, and possibly foggy. Open it in the Sahara, and the heat of the surrounding area would probably disperse the fog before it could form. I'll add more detail about that, too.

Also, does anyone know how to make a degree symbol, one of those little circles, on a keyboard?

Read it out loud, you'll find some grammar mistakes. some phrasing issues- "any energy source that radiates heat" can just be "any source of heat energy," "beclouded" does not make sense in that context, so just put the stuff in parenthesis into that part. I'm not sure about this… but, usually, there can't be an SCP-XXX-1 without a SCP-XXX, so SCP-XXX-1 and SCP-XXX-2, in your article, would be SCP-XXX and SCP-XXX-1. But that's just me and my pedantry.

Finally, a bit of erroneous science that threw me off- "water vapor will visibly emanate" is completely wrong, seeing as water vapor is invisible. Just do a ctrl-f, replace all instances of "water vapor" with "condensed water vapor" and you'll be good. You might want to check out wikipedia for more detail.

I hate to be a downer, but.

1. Mix potassium nitrate and sugar in a pot.
1.1. If you like, you can melt them together at a low heat over the stove; this takes a while.
2. Take outside
3. Use something to light the mixture
4. Assuming you used enough, you will fill the entire area with fog for quite some time.
