I've been brainstorming and came up with an idea I'd like some feedback on.
The idea is for a microscopic mycelium that invades the cells of a host organism and distributes the consciousness of that organism throughout its biology. The mycelium also grants the host a massively accelerated healing ability, but not a regenerative ability.
Where I'm going with this is that an organism infected by the mycelium would be able to survive almost any accident or injury but would heal into the post-accident body form almost instantly.
You get smashed flat by a truck? You heal smashed flat.
Torn to pieces? Most of your pieces heal into separate, remotely conscious pieces. If an arm is lopped off then it's probably conscious, but with no sensory organs… your mind trapped inside a severed arm…
So does this idea creep you out? Would it work as an SCP?
