There are going to be some major alterations to the site in the next week or so.
I don't know how many of you know this, but Fishmonger is one of our more prominent users, and has created many of the more prominent Foundation Tales stories, such as the Wanderlust series. Unfortunately, Fishmonger also has a somewhat…abrasive personality. He has clashed with the site and the administrative staff several times, and as teetered on the edge of banning on many incidents.
Things came to a head, finally. With no need to go in to details, it was determined that Fishmonger's continued behavior and reprehensible comments were no longer counterbalanced by the quality of submissions. With a heavy heart, Fishmonger was banned. In time, I'm not sure what would have happened. Fishmonger seems to go in cycles of lucidity and rage, so it may have been that we would have eventually been able to welcome him back.
Fishmonger, however, has elected to take a different approach. To quote:
Since the decision has been made that having my writing is "not worth putting up with my dramatics", then you shall have neither. Effective immediately, I formally request that all original material I have submitted to the SCP Foundation wiki be permanently removed.
If this material is not removed within two weeks, I will not contact you further; legal summons will be sent via my lawyer, Donald B. Spear, to wikidot and their hosting server, GoDaddy, pursuant to Section 512 to Title 17 of the United States Code.
He has elected to remove the entirety of his work from the site. We have ALWAYS complied with requests for deletions when asked, and we will not change this policy now. In the past, it's been mostly pictures, but this is a bit more extensive then normal. Effective tomorrow (Friday, June 4th, 2010), the administrative staff will begin deleting and removing Fishmonger's work from The SCP Wiki.
I can not apologize enough to all of you. This harms only the reading and viewing public, and is, I feel, unnecessary. Fishmonger seems unwilling to discuss things as well, so it's not likely that he'll have a sudden change of heart. For all the lovers of Fishmongers work…I'm sorry. I wish it wasn't going down like this, that this didn't seem so exceptionally…petty, but…there doesn't seem to be anything I or we can do.
Admin staff, such as myself, Bright, and the various Mods will be available to field any questions or concerns. Once again, I can't apologize to you, the fans, enough. Hopefully this goes quickly and cleanly, and we grow even bigger and stronger in to the void that's left.
Once again, my deepest apologies.
