Hi guys, this is my first SCP and I'd love critisms and reviews. the general idea is that it's a virus that's human specific and spread by rats. Details are all in the write up. Lemme know what you think!
Humans can already (apparently) spontaneously burst into flames (SHC, Wiki link here), so you'll have to either incorporate that this thing is/isn't the cause of the few cases of SHC, or just be wary of it in general :)
It looks good so far to me, but should get a little attention before you put it up for general review. Specifically, there are a few parts that need tone edits. I was also struck by this part: "SCP-XXX infects human blood cells by absorbing the nutrients causing an almost anemic like response within the body. As the nutrients are absorbed, SCP-XXX will begin to replicate and fill the empty blood cells with a modified version of the human’s (from here known as SCP-XXX-1) antibodies, tricking the body into accepting the virus."
While I suppose that the chain of events described is plausible, a virus would not "infect … cells by absorbing the nutrients", though it might infect cells and cause them to absorb nutrients. Likewise creating foreign antibodies would not trick the immune system into accepting the virus, though it could evade the immune system and then produce modified antibodies as separate phenomena.
I do have to say that I liked the fact that diabetics are immune to the virus. It's one of those intriguing little details that adds verisimilitude to an article. If you would like any help cleaning up the science in the article I'm happy to lend a hand.
@Aeish-I do have examples of RL cases and how they are caused by the virus. I'm trying (hopefully) to convey that the virus is the reason for spontaneous human combustion.
@simplecadence - And I would love help cleaning up the science! I don't normally write that way so I was a bit unsure on some instances on how to word it. Thanks for the help!
All right then. I've gone through quickly and shown you what kind of edits I'm talking about. You can see it in my sandbox. I posted it there so that you could see what I meant, but could take what you like and leave what you don't. I also tried to stick to the science and the most obvious edits, so there are probably a few places that could still benefit from some touch-up. If you have any questions about anything go ahead and ask, obviously the edits I've made reflect my personal judgement and you can override whatever you want.
Love that you fixed the tone, thanks for the help, I shall be posting!
