"SCP-132 has requested permission to ride SCP-258 for a few minutes. My inclination is to let the poor girl, but we don't know what will happen if the two interact. We could all drown in paint. It's your call, boss."
How does she know about SCP-258 in the first place? It seems to me that standard containment procedures for intelligent SCP's would involve limiting their knowledge of the rest of the Foundation's operations (to nothing, if possible). Not to mention the fact that I'm against most cases of inter-article references as a general rule.
I also wonder why the brief feels it's necessary to mention that there is no evidence for sentience in a playground toy. Wouldn't that be the default assumption? Just because it has anomalous properties doesn't mean it is therefore intelligent. Maybe that's a personal pet peeve though, since I'm often confused as to why authors throw in sentience in an article that doesn't need or benefit from the addition.
Neutral vote for now, though I'll see how it develops.
It's a good point about the sentience; I believe my thought was 'apparent sorrow prompted them to test and they couldn't determine'. I'll have to think about the 132 case, as far as I know she's not so much 'contained' as 'guest' and they're trying to relieve her misery.
She's got an SCP, she's contained. Whether she's willing or not is really irrelevant. And while cross-discussions will no doubt happen, I personally think that the article is weakened due to the mention.
At this moment, I'm mulling it over, so no vote as of now.
I'll remove it for now, perhaps I'll add a note about possible effects of their interaction instead.
While I like this one as it stands, it could do with more fleshing out.
Yeah, I think it needs some sort of factor to tie it together, a bit more. I think it's a good base though.
Agreed. With a bit of work, this one can build on the potential to improve.
I'd advocate it if only because it fills the are of "moderately weird, possibly useful"- such items give credibility to the assumed procedure of the Foundation reverse-engineering or keeping useful artifacts or individuals. Neutral vote, as it is currently merely a curio. And possibly an antidepressant.
Wow, I've been away for a damn long time. Anyways, I've been thinking about coming back and adding to the site again in some way, and I think I'd start by talking to you guys about whether this should stay as a potentially useful curio or if it should be altered to be more menacing—for instance, those who ride it lose the capacity for sorrow or empathy.
You're the author, if you really want to, you can.

Yes, but people didn't really like this one, so I'd like to improve it for the site, not just my own tastes.
I'm less of a horror writer than an adventure writer anyways.
I liked it, if only for the mental image of SCP agents in hazmat suits and faces full of delight riding the frog.
I think this could use some clarification as to the effect it has on people. As-is, it's still pretty neat, so a +1.
