So if I could get a link to this page within the page, would it work twice? How far down could I go…
It's not a party until you summon a lesser demon.

Maybe it could go even farther…
I'm going to take a looksee at my code again
No, that's a bad idea. I've already given myself enough problems as it is
Edit: I could remove the main article and make a billion offsets
Edit edit: There are now 4 offsets
edit edit edit: Back to 1
I'd cut it down to 1.
One is clever and cheeky, four is annoying.
Like, to the point that it makes me reconsider my upvote.
I see. I guess it is up to the rest of everyone to decide.
It seems to be kinda polarizing
I will point out that the article was doing extremely well and being upvoted, and then you added the four pages of offset nonsense and it started taking a nosedive. Put it back like it was with a single offset and the page, and it will be amusing again.
since pages can't go away until actually deleted, I will wait for it to do so before rewriting this
I was wrong. It's back to "normal"
You don't need to wait; you can delete pages you make. Just from me, you've got one -1 that can be turned back into +1 by losing the chaff, so there's plenty of time to save this. It doesn't need a rewrite- it just needs to be put back to the original version that was being upvoted.
You got me.
That said, I think the reveal of the article needs stronger jokes than "coldpost".
Should I make more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets about creating articles that lead to more offsets finally culminating in one more article?
yes
Edit: I do believe I dun-goofed.
Edit Edit: I am sorry. This was a terrible idea. Let's hug.
What have you done and why am I compelled to upvote it?
This epitomizes the problem with a lot of meta articles for me. The meta aspect is there for no particular reason. I mean, it doesn't relate to the article itself in anyway, which is a vague piece about consciousness without any kind of context to make it remotely interesting. The footnote commentary is unpleasantly immature (I'm assuming it was meant to be funny?). Also, the coding thing was initially cute, but now with all these offsets, it's messy and a pain to read.
Also, what's the joke here?
Right, I get that they're immature, but that isn't a joke in and of itself. What's supposed to be satirical about this piece. Alluding to the notion of coldposts doesn't automatically equate to a joke either.
I don't understand how this splash page is even vaguely related to the actual article.
Dammit. I wanted to use this "create a new page" gimmick for my author page. Oh well.
The SCP Wiki has many resources to help you get feedback, and articles that have been critiqued are far more likely to be successful, despite the fact that some threads go unnoticed and lack constructive criticism, only to die a lonely death in the darkness of the void.
This is when I upvoted, just because it's too true. Three of my five skips have gone entirely without feedback, so I just said "screw it" and coldposted. They did surprisingly well.

I've had trouble getting feedback from the get-go, so coldposting is often the right way about it, unfortunately.
The IRC Chat is the best place to get feedback, all things considered. Plenty (if not most?) of our most prolific authors use chat nigh-exclusively. There's more to feedback than threads. And if you can't make it to chat, you can PM a staff member to wave your draft around in chat for you.
Also, for new authors who happen to read this—coldposting tends to not be the best way to get feedback unless your draft just happens to be rather good at the start, if the deletions announcements thread (and the feedback sections ported) is anything to go by.
Of course, let me rephrase
Coldposting finished content has always been my best bet, and it obviously shouldn't be that way. IRC is all well and good, but many new authors are put off by this method since the forums are supposed to be the easiest and best way to get feedback
the forums are supposed to be the easiest and best way to get feedback
admittedly i don't know whether to be astounded or cynical about this optimistic view
