SCP #6. Good grief, I've written 6 SCPs in about 5 weeks…

I worry a tad that this is too close to my own 3941, but eh, well. Not much I can do about that. This is inspired by my deep love of Safavid history, and I hope you all like it. It contains small references to SCP-173, to the Scarlet King, to SCP-3150 and to SCP-3941.

DeathRay (who encouraged me to focus a great deal more on the character of -3).
Modern_Erasmus (general grammatical improvements, and prompting a small edit of the second interview).
phyre (innumerable grammatical improvements, especially regarding my comma splices).
noxfero (who pointed out the pointlessness of some of my blackboxing).
Pixeltasim (who pointed out some areas where I could clarify things, and encouraged me to make the pre-interview sections more cohesive with the theme).
Mr Abadede (for a large amount of very useful general critique).
Victovoi (who pointed out a bad grammar point).
Hippo/The Great Hippo (who pointed out that the dialogue needed to be toned down a bit).
Faut (who liked it :p).

I feel like I need to reread this one several times. There are some serious themes here, about the moments that define us, about the difference between the private and public self, about trying to relive the past but never being able to. This has a very layered, very Sufi, quality to it.

In the presence of the saint the true dervish is silent.

This is another solid, character-driven piece. It shares thematic similarities with SCP-3941, but is otherwise distinctive. The struggles here are different, but remain deeply personal. I can also definitely tell that there's a lot of love for the historical context.

Small grammar bit I noticed:

the screams of the servants as they found my body, the mourning of the my flowers.

Anyway, I just took a class that covered some of this history, and you did an excellent job distilling it into a personal and thematic piece without letting that history distract too much. +1 for sure.

I like how the containment procedures are like "Well, ORIA is doing okay with containing, like, they're not completely horrible at it, so we'll let them keep doing that, I guess."

Noticed a couple of things that I think are errors (I didnt change them because I wasn't 100% sure)

Penultimate paragraph of the description:

Based on the testimony of SCP-3514-2, SCP-3514 is believed to have been created sometime after the death of Shah Isma'il in the early 16th century.

I think that's meant to be SCP-3514-3?

Less sure about this one because it happens twice so might be something specific to the name that I dont know, but the ' in front of Ali seems out of place at first glance.

The apostrophe is indeed intentional- it's the usual transliteration of the Arabic letter "ain". Shall edit for consistency.

I absolutely love this article, +1. Though, there is an inconsistency that I'm concerned about.

On 22/12/1973, the Office for the Reclamation of Islamic Artifacts (ORIA) was alerted to the existence of SCP-3514, and swiftly moved in to contain it. It was discovered through documents stolen during an ORIA incursion into Site ██, an attempt to seize control of SCP-3941.

I think ORIA incursion should occur after the discovery of SCP-3941, which is 199█? I'm sorry if I'm putting the wrong interpretation, or overlooking some important information.

Hmm. I think I might have to remove the crosslink altogether, as I can't change either date without messing up each skip's chronology… shall have a think.

I liked this article, it was very interesting (especially the data table and when you added in the 'previous containment procedures'). Loved it!
